School’s out (almost) and that means it’s time to head Hawkins, Indian for the summer holidays, becaues yes, Stranger Things is finally back for Season 3. That’s not the only thing in store for July, though, with Netflix’s other flagship show, Orange Is the New Black, drawing to a close with its final season. Also bidding farewell is Gotham with its fifth season.

Showing no signs of slowing down are Part 2 of Guillermo del Toro’s family animation, 3Below, Spanish thriller Money Heist (back for Part 3), the Fab Five (back for a fourth season of Queer Eye) and even Season 2 of Netflix baking contest Sugar Rush. Also making its debut is Another Life, a sci-fi thriller starring Katee Sackhoff.

Lightening the mood in between those are a selection of brilliant modern comedy, from Bridemaids and Girls Trip to Season 1 of Derry Girls. And hot on the heels of the success of Murder Mystery, Netflix continues to line up original movies, including The Red Sea Diving Resort, starring Chris Evans and Michael Kenneth Williams.

Here’s what’s coming soon to Netflix UK in July 2019:

Designated Survivor: 60 days – 1st July

Designated Survivor: 60 Days follows the main storyline of the original US series, but has been adapted to feature more of the Korean reality. It is a story of a politician, who suddenly ascends from the position of Minister of Environment to President, as an explosion at the National Assembly kills everyone in the Cabinet who is ahead of him in terms of the presidential succession. Park Mu-jin is a scientist-turned-politician who struggles to fit in politics. Park is the acting president for 60 days, and during this period, albeit inexperienced and unwilling, he tries to uncover the truth behind the attack.

Bridesmaids – 1st July

Intelligent, amusing and brilliantly performed, this hilarious wedding comedy stuffs character and heart in alongside the jokes. When it’s on form it’s unbeatable.

Zero Dark Thirty – 1st July

Kathryn Bigelow’s account of the black ops mission to capture or kill Osama bin Laden across 10 years was controversial when first released, but the director plays her even hand cooly throughout. However you choose to read its depiction of events, this is absolutely gripping.

Katherine Ryan: Glitter Room – 1st July

Ryan‘s 2018 UK tour show comes to Netflix for an hour-long special after an unprecedented four-week run at London’s Garrick Theatre in the West End. Filmed in December 2018 in Los Angeles, Glitter Room is a follow-up to her 2017 Netflix stand-up special, Katherine Ryan: In Trouble.

The Last Czars – 3rd July

When social upheaval sweeps Russia in the early 20th century, Czar Nicholas II resists change, sparking a revolution and ending a dynasty.

Stranger Things: Season 3 – 4th July

From rabid rats and Soviet espionage to New Coke and a brand-new mall, it’s the summer of 1985 in Hawkins … and big changes are afoot.

Girls Trip – 4th July

Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Tiffany Haddish star in this raucous comedy about four friends who go on a work vacation to New Orleans, where one is a keynote speaker at a festival.

Derry Girls: Season 1 – 9th July

Laugh-out-loud funny and wonderfully heartfelt, Lisa McGee’s sitcom about schoolgirls growing up during The Troubles is one of the best new comedies of the last decade.

Family Reunion – 10th July

When the McKellan family moves from Seattle to Georgia, life down South — and traditional grandparents — challenge their new-age ways.

Parchís: El documental – 10th July

Get an in-depth look at Parchís, the 1980s kids’ band from Spain, through interviews with ex-members and other insiders, concert footage and more.

Cities of Last Things – 11th July

In a dystopian tale unfolding in reverse chronology, a man with a complicated past takes revenge on the individuals who wronged him decades ago.

Kidnapping Stella – 12th July

3Below: Tales of Arcadia: Part 2 – 12th July

Still stranded in Arcadia, royal alien siblings Aja and Krel continue their quest to return home as General Morando plots a course to invade Earth.

Poms – 12th July

In this uplifting comedy, life in a retirement community is anything but retiring for a group of young-at-heart senior ladies who decide to pull out the pom-poms and form a cheerleading squad.

You Me Her: Season 4 – 12th July

After tying the knot in a commitment ceremony, Emma, Jack and Izzy negotiate suburban life on the road toward parenthood.

Bonus Family: Season 3 – 12th July

Frankenstein’s Monster’s Monster, Frankenstein – 16th July

The Letdown: Season 2 – 31st July

Audrey, mother of a 2-month-old, joins a new-parents support group, where she makes some quirky friends facing various challenges and life changes.

The Red Sea Diving Resort – 31st July

Inspired by remarkable true life rescue missions, The Red Sea Diving Resort is the incredible story of a group of international agents and brave Ethiopians who in the early 80s used a deserted holiday retreat in Sudan as a front to smuggle thousands of refugees to Israel. The undercover team carrying out this mission is led by the charismatic Ari Kidron (Chris Evans) and courageous local Kabede Bimro (Michael Kenneth Williams). The cast also includes Haley Bennett, Alessandro Nivola, Michiel Huisman, Chris Chalk, Greg Kinnear and Ben Kingsley.
