What’s coming soon to Amazon Prime Video UK in January 2020?

Amazon beams us up into a new year with a slew of new originals and exclusives. Star Trek: Picard leads the pack, with Patrick Stewart returning to our screens to reprise his iconic role. For fans looking for more grounded action, Bourne spin-off Treadstone is also arriving, while true crime fans can get their fix with a docuseries on Ted Bundy. Coming-of-age comedy comes courtesy of one of 2019’s best films, while Amazon also continues its push into stand-up specials with a double-bill of Jayde Adams and Rob Delaney.

South Park: Season 22 – 1st January
Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s satirical adult animation’s 22nd run, broadcast in 2018, tackles everything from school shootings to climate change denial.
James May: Our Man in Japan – 3rd January
James May will embark on a journey across Japan for this new documentary, from its icy north to its balmy south. He’ll see the sights, meet the locals, and eat the noodles in a bid to truly understand the Land of the Rising Sun.
Jayde Adams: Serious Black Jumper – 3rd January
Serious Black Jumper sees the Bristolian take a completely new direction. Having packed away the sequins and glamour (for now) Jayde has gotten rid of the show stopping musical numbers and glitzy costumes to reinvent herself as a ‘Successful Independent Woman Person’, exploring what it means to be a feminist this century, while wearing the feminist wardrobe staple attire” the Serious Black Jumper.
Treadstone – 10th January
From producers of the Bourne franchise, Treadstone explores the origin story and present-day actions of Operation Treadstone, the infamous, covert CIA Black Ops programme that uses behaviour modification to turn recruits into nearly superhuman assassins. Season 1 follows sleeper agents across the globe as they’re mysteriously “awakened” to resume their deadly missions.
Rob Delaney: Jackie – 17th January
Recorded at the Hackney Empire in London, Rob Delaney will unpack the horror and the joys of his life in the UK’s capital city: from swimming in tea, unearthing scammers, being a father and a husband, the monarchy, the rise of the sexbots… and the disappearance of his friend Jackie.
Star Trek: Picard – 24th January
Star Trek: Picard features Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on Star Trek: The Next Generation. The new series will follow this iconic character into the next chapter of his life. Alongside Stewart, Star Trek: Picard will also star Isa Briones, Santiago Cabrera, Michelle Hurd, Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway and Evan Evagora.
Booksmart – 24th January
Academic overachievers Amy and Molly thought keeping their noses to the grindstone gave them a leg up on their high school peers. But on the eve of graduation, the best friends suddenly realize that they may have missed out on the special moments of their teenage years. Determined to make up for lost time, the girls decide to cram four years of fun into one night. Bernie Feldsein and Jaitlyn Dever star in Olivia Wilde’s hilarious coming-of-age comedy.
Ted Bundy: Falling for a Killer – 31st January
This five-part docuseries reframes infamous serial killer Ted Bundy’s crimes from a female perspective, uncovering the disturbing and profound way in which his pathological hatred of women collided with the culture wars and feminist movement of the 1970s, culminating in what is perhaps the most infamous true crime saga of our time.
