Amazon Prime Video is aiming for all audiences this summer, from Women Talking and the return of Cruel Summer to thrillers from Harlan Coben and Gerard Butler.
Here’s what’s coming soon to Amazon Prime Video UK in August 2023:
The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart: Season 1 – 4th August
This Australian miniseries follows a young girl, Alice Hart, whose violent childhood casts a dark shadow over her adult life. Episodes 1 to 3 arrive at once, followed by episodes weekly.
Kandahar – 4th August
A CIA operative and his translator flee from special forces in Afghanistan after exposing a covert mission in this thriller starring Gerard Butler.
Destination NBA: A G League Odyssey – 8th August
This sporting docuseries gives viewers access to some of basketball’s brightest prospects as they participate in the NBA G League during the 2023-23 season.
Cruel Summer: Season 2 – 11th August
Set in an idyllic waterfront town in the Pacific Northwest, the next chapter of “Cruel Summer” follows the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship. Approaching the story from three different timelines surrounding Y2K, the season twists and turns as it tracks the early friendship between Megan, Isabella and Megan’s best friend Luke, the love triangle that blossomed, and the mystery that would impact all of their lives going forward.
We Are Newcastle United: Season 1 – 11th August
Narrated by Newcastle United’s all-time leading goalscorer Alan Shearer, the series will offer a unique insight into the club’s ongoing evolution under head coach Eddie Howe, offering exclusive access to the club’s decision makers and following the Magpies’ 2022/23 season from close quarters. With Howe’s squad chasing European qualification in the league after reaching their first cup final for 24 years, the series will explore how the decisions made by the club off the pitch impact their fortunes on it.
Red, White & Royal Blue – 11th August
Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), the son of the first woman President of the United States (Uma Thurman), and Britain’s Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine) have a lot in common: stunning good looks, undeniable charisma, international popularity…and a total disdain for each other. Separated by an ocean, their long-running feud hasn’t really been an issue, until a disastrous—and very public—altercation at a royal event becomes tabloid fodder driving a potential wedge in U.S./British relations at the worst possible time. Going into damage control mode, their powerful families and respective handlers force the two rivals into a staged “truce.” But as Alex and Henry’s icy relationship unexpectedly begins to thaw into a tentative friendship, the friction that existed between them sparks something deeper than they ever expected. Based on Casey McQuiston’s critically acclaimed New York Times bestseller, Red, White & Royal Blue marks the feature film writing and directing debut of Tony Award-winning playwright Matthew López (The Inheritance).
Shelter: Season 1 – 18th August
Harlan Coben’s latest thriller tells the story of Mickey Bolitar and his new life with a mom in rehab, a dead father, an annoying aunt, and a new school in New Jersey.
Greatest Days – 25th August
Fresh from cinemas, this Take That musical is directed by Coky Giedroyc and written by Calendar Girls’ Tim Firth.
Women Talking – 28th August
Do nothing, stay and fight, or leave. In 2010, the women of an isolated religious community grapple with reconciling a brutal reality with their faith.
