Netflix to launch across Europe in late 2014

Netflix has announced plans to launch in new territories across Europe later this year.
Netflix will introduce its streaming service to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Luxembourg in late 2014. The Internet TV company now has over 48 million members in more than 40 countries, with particular growth enjoyed in its markets outside the US. Indeed, that is the area Netflix is focussing on this year – the only way for the company to grow is to increase its membership base.
The latest move follows the launch of Netflix in the UK and Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and, most recently the Netherlands. The company also recently announced a rise in price for new customers from £5.99 a month to £6.99 a month, in the hope that the higher monthly fee and a wave of new customers will help to offset the expensive marketing and content costs such expansion requires. (Existing customers in the UK will not be affected for two years.)
People interested in becoming Netflix members in France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Luxembourg can go to www.netflix.com today and sign up to receive an e-mail alert when Netflix has launched.
Further details, including pricing, programming and supported devices will be available at a later date.
