The first details of the opening episodes of Marvel’s Daredevil have arrived, just over one month before its premiere on Netflix.
The TV series, which stars Charlie Cox as blind lawyer Matt Murdock, will be released on Netflix in April. While footage and further information is still largely under wraps, though, the titles and directors of the first three episodes have been revealed. The announcement comes from the BBFC, which has just rated them for broadcast.
Episode 1 will be called Into the Ring and is directed by Phil Abraham, who has just helmed Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain and has previous on Mad Men, The Walking Dead and The Sopranos. Abraham has also directed the second episode, Cut Man. Adam Kane (24: Live Another Day, Hannibal and Being Human) will take the chair for Episode 3, Rabbit in a Snowstorm.
Other members of the cast include the previously announced Rosario Dawson, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and Ayelet Zurer,
The opening episode title suggests we’ll get some of the back-story involving Daredevil’s dad – a reassurance to fans hoping they stay faithful to the comic book – while the decision to give directing duties to Abraham and Kane for the opening pair of episodes is in keeping with the show’s gritty, adult tone.
In terms of what else we know, here’s the official synopsis already released by Marvel: Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the Super Hero “Daredevil” in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
