Dick Turpin will ride again, with Apple TV+ officially giving a green light to Season 2 of The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin.
The series stars Noel Fielding as the infamous highwayman and follows him on a journey of wildly absurd escapades when he’s made the reluctant leader of a band of outlaws. In this irreverent retelling set in the 18th century, Turpin is the most famous but least likely of highway robbers, whose success is defined mostly by his charm, showmanship and great hair. Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Turpin rides the highs and lows of his new endeavors, including a brush with celebrity.
“Noel Fielding leads a delightfully silly and star-studded cast in this fast and funny romp through history,” we wrote in our review of Season 1, which debuted earlier this year with a cast including Hugh Bonneville, Greg Davies, Tamsin Grieg, Marc Wootton, Ellie White and Duayne Boachie, not to mention Jessica Hynes and Connor Swindells.
The series is written by Richard Naylor and Jon Brittain with Noel Fielding. It is executive produced by Kenton Allen, Big Talk Studios (multi-BAFTA Award-winning producer of “Rev.,” “The Outlaws,” “Friday Night Dinner”), Noel Fielding, Victoria Grew, Big Talk Studios (“Back,” “We Are Not Alone”), Anthony Wilcox (“This England”) and Ben Palmer (BAFTA TV Award and Rose d’Or Award winning “The Inbetweeners,” and “The Inbetweeners Movie”), with Richard Naylor and Jon Brittain as co-executive producers. The series will be directed by Ben Palmer.
