Fans of superheroes, Lost and The Leftovers will be asking themselves the same question this autumn: where can I watch HBO’s Watchmen TV series online in the UK?
Created by Damon Lindelof, the series is a modern-day reimagining of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ groundbreaking graphic novel about masked vigilantes. The show introduces us to a world where a vast and insidious conspiracy at play, an alternate history where masked vigilantes are treated as outlaws. The result embraces the nostalgia of the original graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.
The cast includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, and James Wolk.
The nine-part series sees new characters thrown into fresh chaos. Set in an alternate history Tulsa, Oklahoma, the series picks up three years after a co-ordinated white supremacist attack on police and their families, an event referred to as the White Night. Following the attack, police wear yellow bandanas to protect their identities, while The Seventh Kavalry, the group behind the attack, don familiar “Rorschach” style masks.
Although the racist movement has been forced into the shadows, detective Anglea Abar (Regina King) and Tulsa police chief Judd Crawford (Don Johnson) work together on a police shooting that may signal a revival of the terrorist group. Meanwhile, an imperious Lord of a Country Estate (Jeremy Irons) receives an anniversary gift.
The series will premiere on Sky Atlantic on 21st October at 2am – a simulcast with its US debut on HBO. It will then be repeated at 9pm on Sky Atlantic, but will be available on-demand immediately following its early-morning broadcast, so you can catch up with it alongside your breakfast, lunch or dinner, without having to wait for 9pm. Episodes then arrive at the same time on Mondays.
Don’t have Sky? You can watch it live and on-demand legally through NOW TV. The streaming service gives you access to FOX UK, Sky Atlantic, Sky One, Sky Living, Sky Crime and more, for £8.99 a month – with no contract, and a 7-day free trial available for new customers.
