What’s coming soon to Amazon Prime Video UK in June 2018?
David Farnor | On 27, May 2018
After a decidedly sparse May, Amazon Prime Video steps up a gear in time for summer, with the return of two original series and a number of new exclusives. Front and centre is the gripping Goliath, which sees Billy Bob Thornton reprise his award-winning role of down-and-out lawyer Billy McBride. For those who prefer action, Amazon’s All or Nothing documentary franchise expands to look at New Zealand’s All Blacks, while Marvel’s new series Cloak and Dagger arrives weekly. Also arriving weekly are two inspiring magazine dramas, Dietland (in its first season) and The Bold Type (back for its second run). And, to top it all off, there’s the promise of weekly instalments of Preacher, AMC’s comic book series, which defies any attempt to describe it.
Here’s what’s coming soon to Amazon Prime Video UK in June 2018:
All or Nothing: New Zealand All Blacks – 1st June
For the first time, the legendary All Blacks allow cameras to join them as they face the formidable British & Irish Lions in a showdown that comes around only once every 12 years, as they battle for the 2017 Rugby Championship. The series offers exclusive access to one of the most dominant teams on the planet during one of their most challenging and talked about seasons, taking Prime members inside the locker room, on the field, and into the lives of head coach Steve Hansen and the celebrated players.
Animal Kingdom Season 3 – 1st June
The family crime drama, based on David Michod’s 2010 film, follows a teenager who moves in with his freewheeling relatives in a Southern California beach town, after his mother’s death. Drawn into their life of excess, he soon discovers it’s funded by criminal activities and joining the family comes with more danger than he might be ready to handle.
The Great Silence – 2nd June
Sergio Corbucci’s snowbound Western is a unique classic of the genre.
The Americans: Season 5 – 2nd June
The Americans follows the complex marriage of two KGB spies – Elizabeth (Keri Russell) and Phillip Jennings (Matthew Rhys) – posing as Americans in suburban Washington D.C. shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected President. With the final season finishing its run on ITV 4, it’s the perfect time to catch up with its gripping penultimate season.
Dietland – 5th June
Based on Sarai Walker’s 2015 best-selling, critically-acclaimed novel of the same name, the series follows Plum Kettle’s journey to self-awakening while exploring a multitude of issues faced by women today – including patriarchy, misogyny, rape culture and unrealistic beauty standards. The ten episodes look into the life of Plum, a ghost-writer for the editor of one of New York’s hottest fashion magazines, as she struggles with self-image and embarks on the complicated road to self-acceptance.
Cloak and Dagger – 8th June
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is the story of Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt, Ultimate Spider-Man) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph, The Night Of), two teenagers who are awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart
The Bold Type: Season 2 – 13th June
Inspired by the life of Joanna Coles, former Editor-in-Chief of fashion magazine, Cosmopolitan, and current Chief Content Officer of Hearst Magazines, The Bold Type reveals a glimpse into the outrageous lives and loves of those responsible for the global women’s magazine, Scarlet. The rising generation of Scarlet women lean on one another as they find their own voices in a sea of intimidating leaders. Together, they explore sexuality, identity, love and fashion.
Goliath: Season 2 – 15th June
As Billy, Patty and the team start to investigate what appears to be an open and shut murder case, they begin to untangle a deadly conspiracy in the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles, where drugs, real estate and politics intermingle. Once again, Billy finds himself facing a new Goliath, one that is as formidable as the city’s mayoral race and as tall as the skyline itself.
Preacher: Season 3 – 25th June
In series two, the trio’s pursuit led them to New Orleans, where they dodged local gangsters, dangerous agents, and other unimaginable mayhem on their way to uncovering an even bigger secret. Now, with Tulip’s life and Cassidy’s friendship in the balance, Jesse must rely on a mysterious figure from his past in order to save his friends and continue on with his mission.
If You Give A Mouse A Cookie: Season 3 – 26th June
In this season of Amazon’s animated series, based on the popular book, we get to know Mouse, Pig, Moose, Dog, Cat and their favourite humans.
