Walter Presents is going back to France this November for new mystery thriller Killer by the Lake.
Julie de Bona replaces Barbara Schulz as Parisian detective Lise in this follow-up to Vanished by the Lake, which was brought to our screens by Walter Presents last year.
“If you ever watched Broadchurch and thought to yourself that it would be better with French accents, Vanished By the Lake is for you,” we wrote in our review of the series. “A mystery involving a missing child, a large body of water and a town full of secrets, it’s a gripping and jaw-dropping slice of chilling crime telly.”
Now, after pulling in over 6 million viewers in France, Jeanne Le Guillou et Bruno Dega create this spin-off series. It catches up with Lise as she starts a new life with her husband and baby, but this happy, rural idyll is suddenly shattered with the discovery of two dead women. Three years after solving the disappearances of teenage girls by Lac de Sainte-Croix, Lise and husband Clovis have re-established themselves 200 miles away by Lac d’Annecy with nine-month old son, Tom. When two bodies are found within two days, though, Lise is placed as lead detective on the murder case. It soon becomes clear that this is the work of a twisted serial killer, and Lise must once again face her past demons.
But murdered women aren’t the only demons haunting Lise; her mother’s Alzheimer’s continues to deteriorate and her husband Clovis is becoming increasingly more distant, leading Lise to question everything she thought she knew about their marriage. But to have any chance of catching the serial killer, husband and wife must work together before someone they know gets hurt.
Killer by the Lake will premiere on Channel 4 at 10.30pm on Wednesday 7th November, with the whole eight-episode box set available on All 4 after its broadcast.
