Plunge into a nightmarish world of digital fear this November with Blumhouse’s new psychological thriller, CAM.
The film, which is set in the industry of webcam porn, stars Madeline Brewer (The Handmaid’s Tale) and premiered at the London Film Festival in October. Now, less than a month later, Netflix is distributing the movie worldwide, and the first trailer for the movie gives us a glimpse of what to expect.
The film follows Alice, an ambitious camgirl who wakes up one day to discover she’s been replaced on her show with an exact replica of herself. As this copy begins to push the boundaries of Alice’s Internet identity, the control that Alice has over her life, and the men in it, vanishes. While she struggles to regain what she’s lost, she slowly finds herself drawn back to her show and to the mysterious person who has taken her place.
Directed by Daniel Goldhaber, and written by former sex worker Isa Mazzei, the thriller tackles issues such as online privacy and the commodification of the female body in 95 taut minutes. The film is released on Netflix on Friday 16th November.
