The Young Offenders will return for Season 4, the BBC has announced.
The hit comedy, from the BBC in association with RTÉ and produced by Vico Films, began as a follow-on from the box office smash feature film from 2016. It filmed its second and third seasons back to back way back in 2019, with a Christmas special also airing in 2018.
Peter Foott, creator of The Young Offenders, says: “We’re over the moon to have been commissioned for Season 4 of the show on BBC One, and of course always grateful for the ongoing support of RTÉ. Audiences have been asking for more of the journeys of these characters and we’re very excited to take the show in new directions for Season 4 and can’t wait to bring it back to TV screens.”
Ben Caudell, Commissioning Editor for BBC Comedy, adds: “We’re so happy to have The Young Offenders back on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, so that viewers once again enjoy the adventures, and misadventures, of all these brilliant comic characters – they may not be quite so young, but they’re still very much offenders.”
The Young Offenders has been commissioned for the BBC by Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy Commissioning and the Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Ben Caudell. The Series Producers for Vico Films are Peter Foott and Cormac Fox, alongside Executive Producers Lotte Beasley, Abby Singer and Michael Doherty. Commissioning Editor for RTÉ Comedy is Justin Healy. The Director for Season 4 is Jamie Jay Johnson.
