Apple has acquired The Wives, a murder-mystery film starring Jennifer Lawrence.

The film’s details are, of course, being kept closely under wraps, but the project is said to be inspired by the Real Housewives reality TV franchise. It will be written by Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley (Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical), and it will be co-produced by Apple Original Films and A24.

Producers will include Jeremy O Harris (Zola) and Josh Godfrey (Manchester by the Sea) for bb2, alongside Justine Ciarrocchi and Jennifer Lawrence, both for Lawrence’s Excellent Cadaver.

Lawrence will also be in front of the camera, marking a reunion for her and Apple TV+, after she starred in the streamer’s veteran drama Causeway.

The movie marks Apple’s continuing strategy of backing star-driven projects, including Jon Watts’ Wolfs, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, and Doug Liman’s The Instigators, starring Matt Damon and Casy Affleck.
