Trailer: Netflix to find The One this March

What if a DNA test could find your perfect partner? That’s the question asked by The One, Netflix’s new series arriving this March.
Recalling the similar premise behind AMC’s Soulmates, available on Amazon Prime Video, the drama is set five minutes in the future, in a world where there is one person you’re genetically predisposed to fall passionately in love with. No matter how good your relationship, which one of us can honestly say we haven’t thought about whether there is someone better out there? What if a hair sample is all it takes to find them?
Created by Howard Overman (Misfits) and produced by Urban Myth Films in association with Studiocanal, the eight-part series stars Hannah Ware as Rebecca, the ambitious and impulsive CEO and founder of MatchDNA, a company that pairs people with their soulmates, Dimitri Leonidas as James, the co-founder of MatchDNA, Amir El-Masry as Ben, the best friend of James and Rebecca, and Stephen Campbell Moore as Damian, one of MatchDNA’s investors.
You can see them in action – and trace the inevitably messy web of relationships that unfolds between them – from 12th March, when the series premieres on Netflix UK.

The One is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
The One: Netflix to adapt John Marrs novel into new sci-fi series
16th November 2018
Netflix has ordered The One, a new series based on the John Marrs novel of the same name.
The provocative sci-fi tale was first published in 2017, going on to become a best-selling ebook and be featured on Radio 2’s book club.
It takes place five minutes in the future, in a world where a DNA test can find your perfect partner – the one person you’re genetically predisposed to fall passionately in love with. No matter how good your relationship, which one of us can honestly say we haven’t thought about whether there is someone better out there? What if a hair sample is all it takes to find them? The idea is simple, but the implications are explosive. We will never think of love and relationships in the same way again. After all, even soul mates have secrets. And some are more shocking – and deadlier – than others…
The series will be produced by Urban Myth Films in association with STUDIOCANAL, with Johnny Capps and Julian Murphy both exec-producing for Urban Myth Films. It will be created and also exec-produced by Howard Overman (Misfits).
Netflix has ordered a 10-episode first season.
