Netflix’s The Liberator will be released for Remembrance Day, and a new trailer gives us a look at the unique show.
The groundbreaking project tells the true story of the bloodiest and most dramatic march to victory of the Second World War: the battlefield odyssey of maverick U.S. Army officer Felix Sparks and his infantry unit, as they fought for over 500 days to liberate Europe.
Based on the book The Liberator: One World War II Soldier’s 500-Day Odyssey by Alex Kershaw, the four-part series was created by Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive). It’s the first ever production in Trioscope Enhanced Hybrid Animation, a new technology combining state-of-the-art CGI with live-action performance. It will follow the 157th Infantry Regiment from Oklahoma, a National Guard unit comprised primarily of cowboys, Native Americans and Mexican-Americans from the Invasion of Italy to the liberation of the concentration camp of Dachau.
Leading the cast is Bradley James (Merlin) as Felix Sparks. You can see him in action on 11th November, when the series premieres on Netflix. Until then, here’s the video:

James will play their leader, Felix Sparks, reports Deadline, which describe the man as “stubborn” and “defiant”, qualities that nonetheless helped him rise from Second Lieutenant to Lt. Colonel.
James is best know for his role as Arthur in BBC One’s fantasy series Merlin, opposite Colin Morgan and Katie McGrath. He has been busy since, though, going on to play the titular role in Netflix’s Medici franchise, and star A&E’s Damien, a follow-up to The Omen. He has also appeared in iZombie, Homeland and Bounty Hunters.
