Royal Albert Hall streams National Ballet’s Cinderella
David Farnor | On 08, Jul 2020
The Royal Albert Hall will stream the English National Ballet’s production of Cinderella for free tonight.
The inventive production, based on the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale, combined extravagant sets and costumes, surprising theatrical tricks and lively choreography – all to the tunes of Prokofiev’s score, performed by English National Ballet Philharmonic. Christopher Wheeldon originally created the show for Dutch National Ballet and San Francisco Ballet, before adapting it for the English National Ballet. It was performed to capacity crowds in June 2019, when it was also recorded.
Now, the Royal Albert Hall is opening its virtual doors to give ballet fans at home the chance to see the 130+ dancers and live orchestra in action once more.
The event will be streamed here at 7pm on Wednesday 8th July, after which point it will be available on-demand for 48 hours.
The production is streaming alongside a series of Royal Albert Home concerts, which are being streamed online throughout July. Here’s the line-up.
