Trailer: Car Share: Unscripted rides onto BBC One this May

Car Share rides back onto BBC One this May, with a one-off special episode that will be entirely unscripted.
The BAFTA-winning comedy, which was also a hit on BBC iPlayer following its online box set release, returned for a second season last year, but left viewers hanging when it came to John (Peter Kay) and Sian’s (Sian Gibson) relationship. Fans even set up online petition demanding a conclusion to the series, which gathered over 100,000 signatures.
The BBC responded by commissioning a final episode to wrap things up – and a penultimate episode featuring the duo improvising.
Peter Kay said at the time: “We were completely overwhelmed by the response and even though we’ve no plans to write a third series we knew we couldn’t end the story there.”
“We were always very fond of ad libbing around the script when we were filming the series so we decided to see what would happen if we took the script away and just relied on just our chemistry alone, reacting to whatever came on the radio,” he added.
The episode, which follows John and Kayleigh home on their daily commute, will air on BBC One at 10pm on Monday 7th May. Now, we’ve got a look at what that unscripted approach is like with this new trailer:

18h November 2017
Peter Kay’s Car Share will return for two new specials.
The comedian made the surprise announcement alongside co-star Sian Gibson live during BBC Children in Need on Friday evening.
Car Share viewers were left hanging at the end of the second season when Kayleigh stepped out of John’s car and his life forever. Fans even set up online petition demanding a conclusion to the series, which gathered over 100,000 signatures.
Peter Kay says: “We were completely overwhelmed by the response and even though we’ve no plans to write a third series we knew we couldn’t end the story there.”
A special finale episode to be broadcast next year will reveal just what happens next to John and Kayleigh.
Before then, BBC One will broadcast a special episode called Car Share: Unscripted which will follow John and Kayleigh home on their daily commute only the entire episode will be completely improvised.
Peter says: “We were always very fond of ad libbing around the script when we were filming the series so we decided to see what would happen if we took the script away and just relied on just our chemistry alone, reacting to whatever came on the radio.”
Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content, says: “I know it will be music to the ears of millions of fans of Peter Kay’s joyous award winning comedy to hear that Kayleigh and John will be coming back for one last time with a very special finale episode in 2018.”
