“I have a prison wife.” “Did she rape you?” “No, but she held my hand…”

Netflix continues its quest to create as many TV shows as possible with Orange Is the New Black, a new Netflix Original Series released next month.

OITNB, as people will inevitably start calling it, is based on Piper Kerman’s memoirs about her year spent in prison. Adapted by Weeds creator Jenji Kohan, it sees Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) wind up behind bars – a place where she ends up finding herself.

There are 13 episodes in total and Netflix will no doubt be hoping that it wins over those disappointed by the new Arrested Development series. Well, that and bring in all the Jason Biggs fans.

Orange Is the New Black arrives on Netflix exclusively on Thursday 11th July. We’ll be reviewing it as it comes.
