Netflix’s A Quiet Place? The Silence gets a trailer

Netflix is taking on A Quiet Place this month, with its own survival horror that sounds a little too familiar.
The streaming giant is no stranger to genre cinema, having scored a hit among audiences with Bird Box earlier this year. That thriller, starring Sandra Bullock, followed a mother and her two kids trying to survive in an apocalyptic world where a mysterious virus is causing anyone who sees it to die. If that seemed a little like John Krasinski’s Oscar-nominated A Quiet Place, which saw a family trying to avoid being killed by monsters with heightened hearing, it’s just the prelude to Netflix’s next original horror.
The Silence introduces us to a world under attack from terrifying creatures who hunt their human prey by sound. 16-year old Ally Andrews (Kiernan Shipka), who lost her hearing at 13, and her family seek refuge in a remote haven. But they discover a sinister cult who are eager to exploit Ally’s heightened senses.
Based on the acclaimed novel, The Silence is directed by John R. Leonetti (Annabelle) and stars Stanley Tucci, Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, John Corbett, Kate Trotter and Kyle Breitkopf. How different will it be to A Quiet Place? Find out on 10th April, when The Silence arrives on Netflix. The Silence is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
