The Expanse Season 2 set for September Netflix UK release date
James R | On 19, Aug 2017
The Expanse Season 2 will premiere on Netflix UK this September.
The sci-fi series, from SyFy, is based on the New York Times bestselling book series by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, and unfolds across a colonised solar system 200 years in the future, when two strangers become unwittingly swept up in a vast conspiracy.
Oscar-nominated screenwriting duo Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man) are showrunners of the project, alongside Naren Shankar (CSI, Farscape).
The show airs on SyFy in the US and was snapped up last year as a Netflix exclusive in 2016, with Season 1 arriving on the site in November.
“Each episode ends on a stonking cliffhanger that’ll have you clicking onto the next instalment,” we wrote in our review praising the series.
“The Expanse is a gorgeous, thrilling, emotional series that has quite simply raised the bar for science fiction on television,” comments Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “We, along with the fans, are looking forward to continuing the journey with our partners at Alcon Television Group and the series’ brilliant cast and crew.”
While Season 2 was expected to follow its US broadcast earlier this year, though, fans on British soil have been kept waiting, with each month failing to see any word from Netflix on when the programme would return. Now, though, the streaming giant has finally confirmed that all episodes of Season 2 will premiere on 8th September. Even better news? It has already been renewed for a third season.
