How do you follow one of the greatest horror films of all time? Netflix is about to find out this February, as it releases the sequel that it picked up from Legendary last year.
After nearly 50 years of hiding, Leatherface returns to terrorize a group of idealistic young friends who accidentally disrupt his carefully shielded world in a remote Texas town. Based on characters created by Kim Henkel and Tobe Hooper, the film is directed by David Blue Garcia and produced by Fede Alvarez and Rodolfo Sayagues for Bad Hombre, Kim Henkel, Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy for Exurbia Films and Legendary Pictures.

Netflix picks up new Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel
1st September 2021
Netflix has picked up the rights to the latest Texas Chainsaw Massacre film.
The film will be set after the original horror, which was released in 1974. Directed by Tobe Hooper, the movie introduced us to Leatherface, one of a family of cannibals who terrorise a group of young people. Initially banned in several countries, the seminal slasher went on to inspire seven other films, including prequels, sequels and remakes.
Simply called The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, this new entry in the series serves as a direct sequel to the 1974 original, disregarding the other films that have been released since. It is directed by David Blue Garcia and produced by Fede Alvarez and Rodolfo Sayagues for Bad Hombre, Kim Henkel, Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy for Exurbia Films and Legendary Pictures. It is written by first-timer Chris Thomas Devlin and stars Elsie Fisher (Eighth Grade), Sarah Yarkin (Happy Death Day 2U), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner) and Moe Dunford (Vikings).
Filming completed in Bulgaria last year and now, Netflix has picked up the project from Legendary. Netflix will release the film worldwide, in a move that marks the streamer’s ongoing relationship with Legendary, after the pair have teamed up on Enola Holmes (with a sequel on the way) plus animated series Pacific Rim: The Black, Tomb Raider and Skull Island.
