The National Theatre has hosted its first monthly online quiz, with Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren presenting questions for viewers at home.
The National Theatre at Home Quiz will take place on the final Monday of each month, featuring questions on a broad rang of topics, including history, sport, nature and – of course – the National Theatre. Spanning just 15 minutes, the quick virtual quiz is streamed on the National Theatre’s YouTube channel and Facebook page live from 7pm.
Introduced by Director of the National Theatre, Rufus Norris, Sir Lenny Henry and Lesley Manville were also among the quizmasters for the first quiz, which took place on Monday 27th April.
The quiz builds on the success of National Theatre at Home, which launched this month in response to theatre and cinema closures due to the coronavirus pandemic. The weekly Thursday night streams make plays from the NT Live archive available for free on YouTube for seven days. The was the award-winning production of One Man Two Guvnors, which received over 2.5 million views across the seven days it was available online.
Missed the first quiz? You can take part on-demand, with the video still available for free on the National Theatre YouTube channel. Each quiz question is worth one point, with a total of 19 points possible. You can download a scoresheet from here.
