The Leicester Comedy Festival is going online for 2021, with more than 50 live comedy events and specials streaming throughout February.

The event, which runs from Wednesday 3rd to Sunday 21st February, will bring stand-up, podcasts, interviews, game shows and other silliness to your living room, with a line-up that includes Tez Ilyas, Tim Key, Felicity Ward, Tony Law and Laura Lexx, as well as the festival’s regular events, such as The UK Pun Championships and Beyond A Joke seminar series.

Now in its 28th year, one of the UK’s leading comedy festivals will comprise two types of digital events: those that are streamed live and those that are available to watch at any point on-demand throughout the festival. On-demand events include interviews with Stewart Lee, Ed Byrne, Zoe Lyons, Al Murray and Ian Stirling, none of whom will be performing sets. You can, however, see a range of online shows that feature multiple comics, from The After Work Festival Special (featuring Larry Dean), The (Not So) Late Comedy Club (featuring Sindhu Vee, Rosie Jones and Vikki Stone) and panel game Pappy’s Flatshare Slamdown (featuring guests Cariad Lloyd and Angela Barnes). The impressive and versatile mix even includes interactive retro gaming nightmare The Dark Room, for those who want to get more involved.

Tickets for events start from £5 and rise to £20 for those wanting to pay extra to support the festival, its comics and venues during these difficult times. After purchasing, a link is emailed with details on how to stream the show on a computer, mobile device or some Smart TVs. It will not be possible to pause or rewind performances. All shows are not geolocked and will be available to stream from all territories around the world.

The festival has also teamed up with comedy streaming service NextUp to offer a festival pass to all subscribers, which gives access to every interactive Zoom gig plus the other shows through the NextUp app. A subscription costs £59 per year – or £9.99 a month, but only annual subscribers get the festival pass included.
