Netflix has released the poster for House of Cards Season 3 – and followed it with a new teaser trailer.

The poster is nothing shocking or dramatic: just a picture of Frank Underwood and Claire Underwood standing by Air Force One. But it says a lot about how far the show (and Frank) has come, relying on its own sheer confidence to get fans fidgeting in anticipation of its release later this month. The fact that it comes off the back of the series having won two Golden Globes for both of its lead performers only adds to the image’s authority.

Some spoilers for Seasons 1 and 2 will follow.

But that image of power and union may not be entirely true.
Created by Golden Globe and Emmy nominated showrunner Beau Willimon, Season 3 sees Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright return to Washington with the stakes now higher than ever, as President Underwood fights to secure his legacy and Claire wants more than being First Lady. Now, thoguh, the biggest threat they face is contending with each other.

The new teaser trailer for House of Cards Season 3 – released by Netflix UK just in time for Valentine’s Day – says it all. The Underwoods may appear happily married on the outside, but the inside seems be another matter entirely…

All 13 episodes pf House of Cards Season 3 will be released on Netflix on Friday 27th February.
