Gugu Mbatha-Raw will star in Surface, a new drama for Apple TV+.

Apple’s streaming service has given a straight-to-series order for the show, which is created by Veronica West. A psychological thriller, it will comprise eight episodes – and that’s about as much as Apple has let slip on the mysterious project.

What we do know is that Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter will executive produce the series alongside West, via their company Hello Sunshine. Hello Sunshine is no stranger to Apple TV+, with both Truth Be Told and flagship series The Morning Show hailing from the company.

Mbatha-Raw is also no stranger to Apple TV+, having starred in Season 1 of The Morning Show. The British actor will co-executive produce the project.

West, meanwhile, recently developed Hulu series High Fidelity, starring Zoe Kravitz, and will co-executive produce the upcoming revival of Dexter.
