Grimmfest returns for May Bank Holiday streaming

Grimmfest is making one last return to our screens this May with a final fully online festival providing a Bank Holiday weekend full of horror to binge.
Over the course of the weekend, three double-bills will be available to stream. They include the UK premiere of Noah Hutton’s quirky low-fi sci-fi Lapsis and Kike Maíllo’s slippery, disorientating psychological thriller, A Perfect Enemy. There’s also the chance to catch Vicious Fun, the latest from Grimmfest favourite Cody Calahan, before its Shudder release this month. And there’s the world premiere of The Nest, the North West premiere of To Your Last Death and the European Premiere of tongue-in-cheek teen horror actioner Max Reload and the Nether Blasters.
Simeon Halligan, festival director said: “This is likely to be our last fully online gig as UK cinemas begin to open this summer. We wanted to welcome brighter times into our lives and say goodbye to darkness through a mix of fun, crazy, scary and downright weird movies for you all to enjoy on the cusp of summer.”
Each double-bill is available to rent for £9.50 until the end of Monday 31st May, or there’s a festival pass including all three available for £23.50. Book tickets here – and read on for the full rundown:
Double-Bill 1: Lapsis
A surreal and slyly satiric stab at the gig economy and the underhand exploitative methodology of New Age Capitalism in this festival darling that is gaining favourable comparisons to Charlie Kaufman’s work.
Double-Bill 1: A Perfect Enemy
Kike Maíllo’s slippery, disorientating psychological thriller features standout performances from Tomasz Kot (Cold War), Dominique Pinon (Delicatessen) and Athena Strates (The Good Liar).
Double-Bill 2: Vicious Fun
This black comedy about a film critic who ends up a support group for srerial killers stars David Koechner (Anchor man), Calahan regular Ari Millen and genre favourite Julian Richings.
Double-Bill 2: The Nest
A slow-burning, understated, backwoods spin on Invasion of the Bodysnatchers with a squirm-inducing new test.
Double-Bill 3: To Your Last Death
There’s sibling rivalry, Daddy issues galore, and pan-dimensional beings tampering with reality, in Jason Axinn’s gaudy, gory, action-packed animated comic-book.
Double-Bill 3: Max Reload and the Nether Blasters
Pan-dimensional gamers are on the rampage in Scott Conditt and Jeremy Tremp’s retro-80s flick, in which video games prove to be even more of a gateway to hell than Harlan Ellison once feared. The film features a cast of recognisable names such as Greg Grunberg (Big Ass spider, Starwars), Lin Shaye (Insidious) and Kevin Smith.
