Golden Globes: One Battle After Another and Adolescence lead nominees
VOD News | On 12, Dec 2025
The nominations for this year’s Golden Globes has been unveiled and One Battle After Another is leading the list of film nominees.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is up for Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay, along with a clutch of acting awards, including for DiCaprio. Its nine total nods put it just ahead of Sentiimental Value, which has eight nods, incuding Best Film and Best Non-English Language Film.
Close behind are Sinners and Hamnet, with seven and six nominations respectively, followed by Netflix’s Frankenstein and the musical sequel Wicked: For Good, which have five nods apiece. Jafar Panahi’s It Was Just an Accident – a MUBI title, along with Sentimental Value – has four nods, including Best Film and Non-English Language Film.
In the TV race, Netflix’s Adolescence is the key player, with four acting nods along with a nod for Best Limited Series. Just ahead of it is HBO’s The White Lotus, which is up for Best TV Drama and a host of acting prizes.
The White Lotus will face off for the TV Drama prize against Netflix’s The Diplomat and a formidable trio of Apple TV+ titles, including Slow Horses, Severance and Pluribus, plus HBO’s not-yet-released-in-the-UK drama The Pitt.
Disney+ favourites Abbott Elementary and The Bear will face off against fellow Disney+ title Only Murders in the Building in the TV Musical or Comedy category, alongside Hacks, plus Netflix’s Nobody Wants This and Apple TV+ hit The Studio.
As well as Adolescence, the best TV Limited Series contenders include All Her Fault, The Beast in Me, Black Mirror, Dying for Sex and The Girlfriend.
One notable absence is Netflix’s A Houes of Dynamite, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, although the streamer will be pleased with the success of KPop Demon Hunters.
The winners will be announced on 11th January 2026, in a ceremony hosted by Nikki Glaser.
