Season 5 of Girls is available to watch online in the UK before its TV premiere.
Lena Dunham’s comedy series returns to Sky Atlantic on Tuesday 23rd February, following the ongoing attempts of 20-somethings Hannah, Marnie, Shoshanna and Jessa to make sense of life. And eat lots of food.
But for those who can’t wait for their next dose of neurotic romance or witty dialogue, the first episode of the show’s highly anticipated penultimate season is now available to stream legally in the UK whenever you want.
The move from Sky joins an increasing trend of broadcasters releasings show early online. Last year, the BBC premiered the whole of sitcom Peter Kay’s Car Share on BBC iPlayer before its linear broadcast, while Sky made the whole of David Duchnovy crime drama Aquarius available for binge-viewing. BBC Three, on the other hand, has moved entirely online.
But while existing Sky customers who are too cool for the Radio Times can watch Girls using Sky On Demand, VOD service NOW means that the really cool people can watch Girls without the fear of committing to a 12-month relationship. You can also catch up with the previous four seasons.
A NOW Entertainment Membership costs £6.99 a month with no minimum contract. It allows you to stream Sky’s main TV channels both on-demand and live, alongside channels such as Fox and MTV. That means, at the time of writing, you can watch all six seasons of The Walking Dead, the entirety of Girls and both seasons of The Affair.
Season 5 of Girls will then be released weekly on Tuesdays, with each episode available online for both NOW and Sky On Demand users immediately following its broadcast on Sky Atlantic.
