Walter Presents is heading to the Netherlands this month with the premiere of Dutch crime drama Framed.
The conspiracy thriller, which is based on the award-winning novel by Charles den Tex, stars Daan Schuurmans as software consultant Michael Bellicher, whose idyllic life becomes a living nightmare when someone steals his identity and he is framed for the murder of a colleague and subsequent crimes. However, what initially appears to be an everyday case of cyber crime is, in fact, part of an international conspiracy, involving a group of powerful fundamentalists. Bellicher’s life spectacularly unravels – now a fugitive on the run, he’s in a race against time to clear his name.
The show, which explores contemporary themes of identity theft, religious prejudice and the inherent dangers of a technology-saturated world, is the first of three Dutch series snapped up by All 4’s on-demand collection of foreign-language TV. It will be followed by award- winning mafia series Penoza and the smash-hit wife-swapping thriller The Neighbours (also starring Daan Schuurmans), which will launch next year.
