Fortitude Season 2: First look images

Amid the usual swirl of rumours, cast announcements and cancellations, one piece of TV news may have passed you by this week: our first look at Season 2 of Fortitude.
Sky’s original Arctic crime drama, part Broadchurch and part X-Files, premiered in January 2015 and was the first Sky original programme to premiere simultaneously across all Sky markets: Italy, Germany, Austria, the UK and Ireland. Season 2 will see writer Simon Donald return on scripting duties with 10 more episodes set in the same, remote town. Fifty Fathom’s Patrick Spence and Frith Tiplady will also return as Executive Producers.
Production on the second season is currently underway in Iceland and now, Sky Atlantic has given us our first glimpse of what’s in store, with on-set pictures of key returning cast members Sofie Gråbøl (The Killing) and Richard Dormer (Game of Thrones), as well as Dennis Quaid (Far From Heaven), who is playing a new character.
“It’s a privilege to return to Fortitude. It’s a place where the real and the feared live side by side, where old dark secrets thaw out into the chill light of the arctic day. I’d never been anywhere like Fortitude before and I can’t wait to go back,” Donald commented when the show’s renewal was announced.
The new run will continue the story several weeks after the Season 1 finale, examining the fallout from the events among the community. The show will return later this year. If you’re yet to try Fortitude, you can read our reviews of Season 1 here, or catch up with the show through Sky Box Sets. Non-Sky customers can catch up on-demand through NOW, Sky’s contract-free VOD service, which costs £6.99 a month.
