Netflix unveils Frontier Season 2 trailer
James R | On 16, Nov 2017
Jason Momoa returns this month to star in Season 2 of Netflix’s Frontier, and its trailer promises shifting loyalties and new threats, not to mention the harsh, icy perils of the wilderness.
Momoa reprises his role of Declan Harp, a part-Irish, part-native American outlaw campaigning to breach the fur trade in 18th century North America. He’s supported by Downton Abbey’s Zoe Boyle, Hemlock Grove’s Landon Liboiron and our very own Alum Armstrong as Lord Benton, against whom Harp has a bloodthirsty vendetta of revenge.
“Short, stuffed with promising characters to explore and never short of the red stuff, the result is a grisly historical drama that eventually manages to live up to its ambition,” we wrote in our review of Season 1.
The show, which is created by Discovery Canada as a co-production with the streaming giant, was renewed last year, before its first season had even premiered. Now, after the violent Season 1 finale, the show’s sophomore run sees Harp find solace and spiritual revival with a new ally. He decides to seek revenge on Benton by undercutting his power in the region, sidelining his bloodlust in favour of playing a bigger game against his enemy. But with Fort James left in chaos, the Black Wolf Company is fractured and scattered to the wind. And while no one knows if Harp is alive or not, Benton is not taking any chances: he offers a dead-or-alive bounty, unleashing a dangerous threat to Harp and his allies as killers come to the frontier in search of the reward.
Season 2 of Frontier is released on Netflix UK on Friday 24th November. Here’s the trailer:
Jason Momoa is Declan Harp in first trailer for Netflix’s Frontier
7th January 2017
Jason Momoa is Declan Harp in Netflix’s new original series, Frontier. And, just in case you forget that name, the first trailer for the show mentions it within the first four seconds – and then continues to mention it several times in under 90 seconds.
The show follows the chaotic and violent struggle for wealth and power in the North American fur trade in the 18th century. Told from multiple perspectives, the series takes place in a world where business negotiations might be resolved with close-quarter hatchet fights, and where delicate relations between Native tribes and Europeans can spark bloody conflicts.
Declan Harp is a part-Irish, part-native American outlaw campaigning to breach the fur trade. And while the trailer shows off its international cast, which includes Alum Armstrong, Downton Abbey’s Zoe Boyle and Hemlock Grove’s Landon Liboiron, the focus is firmly on its lead. Momoa, who played Conan the Barbarian in 2011’s Conan reboot and Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, quickly proves that he’s lost none of his intimidating screen presence, nor his ability to be brutal and savagely violent when necessary.
You can see Declan Harp in action in full on Friday 20th January, when Frontier is released on Netflix worldwide.
