“She’s been feeding us government secrets for 10 years…” That’s the sound of Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw getting into the spying game for Black Doves – and a new trailer gives us a look at the Netflix series.
Set against the backdrop of London at Christmas, the six-part thriller follows Helen Webb (Keira Knightley), a quick-witted, down-to-earth wife and mother — and professional spy. Sam Young (Ben Whishaw) is a former assassin who comes home to a London that has moved on without him, while his past threatens to catch up with him. When Helen’s secret lover, Jason, is assassinated, Sam is tasked with protecting Helen as she investigates who killed Jason and why.
The drama is created and written by Joe Barton (Giri/Haji, The Lazarus Project), with Knightley and Whishaw joined by Andrew Koji as Jason and Sarah Lancashire as Helen’s spymaster, the enigmatic Reed, as well as Andrew Buchan (Carnival Row) and Kathryn Hunter (Andor), Sam Troughton (Chernobyl).
You can see them in action on 5th December, when the series premieres on Netflix.
