For All Mankind returns to Apple TV+ this June, and a new trailer gives us a look at Season 3.
The drama from Ronald D Moore, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television, explores what would have happened if the global space race had never ended. The series presents an aspirational world where NASA astronauts, engineers and their families find themselves in the center of extraordinary events seen through the prism of an alternate history timeline – a world in which the USSR beats the US to the moon.
Season 3 jumps forward 10 years taking us into the 90s, where a new planetary frontier has sparked another space race: Mars. Our characters find themselves going head-to-head as their ambitions for the Red Planet come into conflict and their loyalties are tested, creating a pressure cooker that builds to a climactic conclusion.
The ensemble cast returning for Season 3 includes Joel Kinnaman, Shantel VanSanten, Jodi Balfour, Sonya Walger, Krys Marshall, Cynthy Wu, Casey Johnson, Coral Peña and Wrenn Schmidt, along with new series regular Edi Gathegi who will play “Dev Ayesa”, a charismatic visionary with his sights set on the stars.

Apple TV+ renews For All Mankind for Season 3
9th April 2020
For All Mankind will return to Apple TV+ for a third season.
Season 2 of the space drama picks up a decade later in 1983. It’s the height of the Cold War and tensions between the United States and the USSR are at their peak. Ronald Reagan is president and the greater ambitions of science and space exploration are at threat of being squandered as the US and Soviets go head-to-head to control sites rich in resources on the moon. The Department of Defense has moved into Mission Control, and the militarisation of NASA becomes central to several characters’ stories: some fight it, some use it as an opportunity to advance their own interests, and some find themselves at the height of a conflict that may lead to nuclear war.
Those 10 episodes will debut on Apple TV+ on 19th February. Before the sophomore voyage has even touched down, however, Apple has already given an early renewal for a third outing.
New stars set to join Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman, Sarah Jones, Shantel VanSanten, Wrenn Schmidt, Jodi Balfour, Krys Marshall and Sonya Walger in Season 2 include Cynthy Wu (Holidate) as Kelly, an astronaut’s daughter, Coral Peña (Chemical Hearts) as adult Aleida Rosales, who we met in Season 1, Casey W Johnson (GLOW) as Danny Stevens, the son of astronauts Gordo (Dorman) and Tracy (Jones).
The series will join recently renewed Apple Originals including Dickinson, which returns for its second season on Friday 8th January 2021, and its breakout hit series Ted Lasso.
