Amazon Prime Video launches Watch Party in UK

Amazon Prime Video has launched a new Watch Party feature for UK viewers.
The feature, which goes live today, is available to all UK Amazon Prime Video subscribers and enabled simultaneous social viewing between people in different households.
Currently supported on desktop computers, the feature lets anyone host a group viewing session, providing synchronised playback, which the host controls. Throughout, a chat function and built-in stickers allow participants to communicate with each other and talk about the film or TV series being streamed.
Watch Party supports up to 100 participants per session, which makes it a bigger proposition than Disney+’s GroupWatch, which launched last month. Both features arrive hot on the heels of Telparty (which launched as “Netflix Party”), which is a web browser extension that enables people to watch Netflix and Disney+ together.
To launch a Watch Party on Amazon Prime Video, go to the TV show or film that you watch to stream, click on the Watch Party icon and then enter your name to use while chatting, before inviting friends to join via a link.
