Adam Sandler is heading to Netflix this October, with new comedy Hubie Halloween.
Sandler, whose films have generated more than 2 billion hours’ worth of viewing time among Netflix subscribers since 2015, renewed his existing deal with the streaming giant at the start of the year – a pact that will see him produce another four movies, following a previous four-picture deal.
Hubie Halloween is the latest result of their ongoing partnership, with Sandler co-writing the script with longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy, who has penned everything from The Ridiculous 6 and Pixels to Happy Gilmore and The Wedding Singer. In front of the camera, Sandler leads a cast that includes Kevin James, Julie Bowen, Maya Rudolph, Ray Liotta, Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Michael Chiklis, Kenan Thompson, Shaquille O’Neal and Noah Schnapp.
Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions produced the movie, with Steve Brill (Little Nicky, Mr. Deeds) at the helm.
The film follows Salem resident Hubie Dubois (Sandler), who thanklessly spends every Halloween making sure the residents of his hometown celebrate safely and play by the rules. But this year, an escaped criminal and a mysterious new neighbour have Hubie on high alert. When people start disappearing, it’s up to Hubie to convince the police (Kevin James, Kenan Thompson) and townsfolk that the monsters are real, and only he can stop them.
The film premieres on Netflix on 7th October. Here’s the trailer:
Hubie Halloween is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
Adam Sandler to save Halloween in new Netflix movie
23rd July 2019
Adam Sandler will once again star in a Netflix movie this Halloween.
The film, which is currently untitled, is co-written by Sandler with longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy, who has written everything from The Ridiculous 6 and Pixels to Happy Gilmore and The Wedding Singer.
In front of the camera, Sandler leads a cast that includes Kevin James, Julie Bowen, Maya Rudolph, Ray Liotta, Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, Michael Chiklis, Kenan Thompson, Shaquille O’Neal and Noah Schnapp.
Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions will produce the movie, with Steve Brill (Little Nicky, Mr. Deeds) at the helm.
Sander plays Hubie Dubois, who lives in Salem, Massachusetts. Despite his devotion to his hometown (and its legendary Halloween celebration), Hubie is a figure of mockery for kids and adults alike. But this year, something really is going bump in the night, and it’s up to Hubie to save Halloween.
The announcement of the project follows the release of Sandler’s latest film, Murder Mystery, which has become the most-watched Netflix original movie within its first four weeks on the service.
