A Fleabag book is on the way

A Fleabag book is officially on the way.
Created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the BBC Three series has been an international smash hit, as the dry-witted, angry, cash-strapped, grief-riddled, porn-watching eponymous young woman has won over viewers in the US as well as the UK with her hilarious, honest attempt to distract herself from the screaming void inside her heart.
Earlier this year, though, fans were distraught when the decision was made for the show not to return for a third outing – not because of the BBC or even Amazon, which has picked the show up as an exclusive in the USA and has reportedly begged for more episodes, but because Waller-Bridge has decided that the story is complete and needs no continuation.
“It rattles along at a caustic, breakneck pace, reminding you just how good a writer and character choreographer Waller-Bridge is,” we wrote in our review of Season 2.
Waller-Bridge is far from done with the character, though: Fleabag the stage show, which is how the programme first started out at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013, is being brought back to the stage at London’s Wyndham’s Theatre – and is also being broadcast into cinemas through NT Live on 12th September.
After that Fleabag fix, it’s only a short wait to get your hands on the new book, which promises to “go deeper into the groundbreaking, Emmy-nominated series” with a collection of the complete scripts, plus original commentary from Waller-Bridge. Called Fleabag: Scriptures, the 368-page book will be published by Sceptre (the literary imprint of Hodder & Stoughton) in the UK on 5th November.
Fleabag Season 2 is available on BBC iPlayer until 30th August 2019. Season 1 is available until November 2019.
