2026 Oscars: Full list of winners
David Farnor | On 16, Mar 2026
The winners of the 2026 Oscar were announced during last night’s ceremony, and One Battle After Another was the undoubted big winner of this year’s awards race.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s offbeat comedy thriller, very loosely inspired by Thomas Pynchon’s novel Vineland, won Best Picture and also Best Director, along with Adapted Screenplay, Editing and Casting – plus, in what was perhaps a surprise on the night, Supporting Actor for Sean Penn’s villainous turn.
It was a long awaited win for Paul Thomas Anderson, who has been nominated before but never taken home an Academy Award. It was also a big win for the film overall, as it battled against an equally heavyweight contender in the form of Sinners – both of them original, defiantly unconventional pieces of cinema.
Sinners was the most-nominated film in Oscars history, with 16 nods, and the horror movie ultimately took home four, including Original Screenplay, Original Score and – in the big triumph of the night – Michael B Jordan for Best Actor. It also took home Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw, making her the first ever woman to win the DoP prize.
Equally successful in the scary stakes was Weapons, which won Supporting Actress for Amy Madigan – whose haunting turn as Aunt Gladys was parodied by host Conan O’Brien in his opening monologue.
Jessie Buckley became the first ever Irish winner of Best Actress for Hamnet, while Norway bagged its first International Feature Film award for Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value.
Mr Nobody Against Putin won the Best Documentary prize, on a night when presenters didn’t shy away from talking about politics. And Netflix enjoyed success not only for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein – winning Production Design, Costume Design and Make-Up and Hairstyling – but also KPop Demon Hunters, the hit Korean animation that was honoured with both best Animated Feature and Original Song.
