We’ve sorted through All The TV to bring you your April watchlist – what’s worth watching and where you can find it online in the UK. You know, in case trying to predict what’ll happen in Line of Duty each Sunday night isn’t enough to fill your week.
Creepshow: Season 2
Based on the 1982 horror comedy classic, the anthology Creepshow returns for a second season and is still the most fun you’ll ever have being scared! A comic book comes to life in a series of vignettes, exploring terrors ranging from murder, creatures, monsters, and delusions to the supernatural and unexplainable. You never know what will be on the next page. Executive produced by showrunner Greg Nicotero, Creepshow’s second season will feature guest stars Kevin Dillon, Iman Benson, Josh McDermitt, Keith David, Molly Ringwald, Barbara Crampton, Justin Long, and D’Arcy Carden, among others. Episodes arrive weekly.

Romeo & Juliet
The National Theatre transforms its Lyttleton theatre into a film studio to present this new production of William Shakespeare’s tragic tale, starring Josh O’Connor and Jessie Buckley in the title roles. Originally planned for the stage and reconceived by director Simon Godwin in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the production also features Adrian Lester, Lloyd Hutchinson, Colin Tierney and Ella Dacres in supporting roles.

Wellington Paranormal: Season 1 to 3
Oh mate, something weird is going down in Wellington. Co-created by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement, Wellington Paranormal is a spin-off from their 2014 vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows. Here, cameras follow incurious police officers Karen O’Leary and Mike Minogue as they keep the streets of New Zealand’s capital safe from the unexplainable, with all three seasons available to watch at once on-demand.

Lights Up
BBC Four’s new season devoted to new theatre from up-and-coming talents and familiar faces. Airing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week, the run includes the National Theatre Of Scotland’s multi award-winning stage play Adam, Katherine Parkinson’s debut play Sitting and Orpheus in the Record Shop, which sees rapper and playwright Testament (Black Men Walking, The Beatboxer) fuse spoken word, Greek myth and beatboxing with a cinematic score performed by members of the Orchestra And Chorus Of Opera North.

Grey’s Anatomy: Season 17
The longest-running primetime medical drama in the world returns for more life and death situations in its 17th season. In the midst of the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Grey Sloan Memorial and its surgeons’ lives have been turned upside down. We pick things up one month into the pandemic, and it’s all-hands-on-deck as Meredith, Bailey and the rest of the Grey Sloan doctors find themselves on the frontlines of a new era. The season begins with a double-bill.

Snabba Cash: Season 1

Meet the Richardsons: Season 2
Somewhere between Curb Your Enthusiasm and Hoff the Record comes this new comedy from Dave, which sees Jon Richardson play himself. The mockumentary sitcom follows Jon and his wife, Lucy Beaumont, through their day-to-day lives, from being parents to being married. Jon plays into his own neurotic unhappiness, and a lot of the fun comes from trying to tell where the line is between knowing self-parody and real life marital tensions.

Filthy Rich: Season 1
This larger than life Southern Gothic dramedy revolves around two strong, sharp women who will go to any length to protect their loved ones and get their due. When the wealthy CEO of the world’s largest Christian network dies in a plane crash, his wife and adult children are stunned to discover he has grown, illegitimate kids who are also in his will. Them: Season 1
Them explores terror in America. The 1950s set first season centres on a Black family who moves from North Carolina to an all-white Los Angeles neighbourhood during the period known as The Great Migration. Too Close: Season 1
Three-part psychological thriller starring Emily Watson as dedicated forensic psychiatrist, Emma Robertson, who is assigned to work with Connie Mortensen, a wife and mother accused of a despicable crime. Her assessment will determine whether Connie faces life in jail, life in a secure psychiatric hospital, or the chance of rehabilitation and release. Emma hopes that the high-profile case will make her career, but her sessions with Connie quickly become a complex psychological game of cat and mouse with confusing sexual undercurrents. Frank of Ireland
Penned by brothers Brian and Domhnall Gleeson and Michael Moloney, this comedy co-produced by Channel 4 and Amazon Studios follows Frank Marron, played by Brian Gleeson (Peaky Blinders, The Bisexual), a 32-year-old catastrophe. A misanthropic, narcissistic fantasist in arrested development who thinks the world owes him something, he is, nonetheless, our hero. Frank lives in Dublin with his mother Mary (Pom Boyd, Rosie, Rialto,Snakes and Ladders), and that’s fine. He is single and his pocket money hasn’t increased in a decade or more, but that’s fine too. Frank is fine because of his wingman Doofus, played by Domhnall Gleeson (The Revenant, Ex-Machina, The Force Awakens). Doofus foolishly thinks they are best friends and it’s his job to blow smoke up, facilitate and attempt to fix the relentless debris in Frank’s wake.

Mythic Quest: Everlight
The gaming workplace comedy, created by Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Megan Ganz, tells the story of a team of software developers as they navigate the challenges of running a popular video game. Soon after the coronavirus outbreak last year, the programme announced that it would return for a special quarantine episode following the team as they adapted to working from home. Now, the team are reuniting to explore the gradual return to offices and normality in a half-hour special featuring guest star Anthony Hopkins.

Ackley Bridge: Season 4

Viewpoint
Noel Clarke takes the lead in this new five-part ITV thriller. Based on an idea by Harry Bradbeer (Killing Eve, No Offence) and co-created by Ed Whitmore (Safe House, Manhunt), it follows a police surveillance investigation into a tight-knit Manchester community and explores whether it is ever possible to observe the lives of others with true objectivity and zero effect. Clarke plays surveillance detective DC Martin Young, who sets up his observation post in the home of single mum and secret voyeur, Zoe Sterling (Alexandra Roach), which gives him a direct sightline into the home of missing primary school teacher, Gemma Hillman (Amy Wren), which she says with boyfriend and prime suspect, Greg (Fehinti Balogun). Intergalactic: Season 1

This Time with Alan Partridge: Season 2
In 2019, This Time with Alan Partridge saw Alan handed a career lifeline – the chance to stand in (temporarily) as co-host on the titular evening weekday magazine show. His first return to live TV since his 90s chat show Knowing Me, Knowing You was cancelled after a guest was fatally shot on air, This Time was the perfect shop window for a man of Alan’s gravitas, mixing consumer affairs, current affairs, viewer interaction, highbrow interview and lightweight froth – all the sweet spots for a man whose CV boasts over two decades of weekday local radio. Written by Neil Gibbons and Rob Gibbons, as well as Coogan, Season 2 will see Alan try to cling on to his position in the face of behind-the-scenes upheaval and Alan’s fears that his relevance is dwindling.
