What’s coming soon to Sky and NOW TV in June 2016?

With Game of Thrones past its halfway point, Sky and NOW Entertainment Membership customers will be reaching the point where they start looking for things to justify their subscription fee. May offered many answers, from the brilliant Billions to the return of Gomorrah, Veep, Penny Dreadful and Silicon Valley, but June has a couple of other eye-catching offerings, from Wayward Pines to Outcast.
Sky Movies (and NOW NOW Cinema Membership) users, though, are in for a much bigger treat, thanks to a packed line-up that includes Spy, Love & Mercy and Straight Outta Compton.

TV
Outcast – 7th June (FOX UK, 10pm)
Based on the Skybound/Image comic title by The Walking Dead creator Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta, Outcast follows Kyle (Patrick Fugit), a man who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life. Now, with the help of Reverend Anderson (Philip Glenister), he will embark on a journey to find answers to obtain a normal life. Glenister and Fugit are joined by Boardwalk Empire’s Wrenn Schmidt, House of Cards’ Reg E. Cathey and Kate Lyn Sheil, plus The Killing’s Grace Zabriskie and The X Files’ Melinda McGraw.

Agatha Raisin: Season 1 – 7th June (Sky 1, 9pm)
Based on the books by M.C Beaton, Ashley Jensen returns to Sky 1 for a full eight-episode run of stories about the Cotswold-dwelling amateur sleuth.

Wayward Pines: Season 2 – 8th June (FOX UK, 9pm)
Secret Service Agent Ethan Burke (Matt Dillon) is on a mission to locate two missing federal agents, and his search leads him to the idyllic town of Wayward Pines, Idaho. Battered and bruised from a recent car accident, could he just have concussion or is there something seriously sinister about this picture-perfect town? That was the set-up for Season 1 of M Night Shyamalan’s psychological thriller. Season 2 continues the story…
Chicago Fire: Season 4 – 9th June (Sky Living, 9pm)
NBC’s drama, created by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, comes back to UK screens for another bout of fire-fighting, courtesy of the Rescue Squad and Paramedics of Chicago’s Firehouse 51.
Unforgettable: Season 4 – 17th June (Sky Living, 9pm)
CBS and now A&E’s crime procedural sees Poppy Montgomery return for a fourth season as police detective Carrie Wells, who has hyperthymesia, a rare condition that means she visually remembers everything.
Guitar Star – 14th June (Sky Arts, 8pm)
New Contestants. New Star. Guitar Star returns for an all-new series.

Big Time in Hollywood, FL: Season 1 – 1st June
Alex Anfanger and Dan Schimpf’s Comedy Central series, produced by Ben Stiller, wasn’t renewed for a second season, but still has giggles to offer in its tale of two delusional brothers and self-proclaimed filmmakers, who are kicked out of their parents’ home.

Spy – 3rd June
Melissa McCarthy stars in Paul Feig’s comedy about a CIA desk analyst who is sent on her first mission after Jude Law’s super-agent is fatally compromised while tracking arms dealers in Europe. Watch out for a scene-stealing Jason Statham.
Fantastic Four – 10th June
Missed opportunity of misunderstood? Chronicle director Josh Trank’s reboot of the Fantastic Four franchise (starring Miles Teller, Kata Mara, Michael B Jordan and Jamie Bell) was divisive when first released – here’s your chance to catch up away from the bubble of hype and backlash.
Mistress America – 10th June
Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach team up once again for this superb comedy about hip New York urbanite Brooke, who takes her wide-eyed future stepsister (Mozart in the Jungle’s Lola Kirke) under her wing. Witty, warm and quietly satirical, this is a hilarious, endearingly scathing look at life, identity and success in the modern world.
American Ultra – 10th June
The Bong Ultimatum? Adventureland’s Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart reunite for this stoner comedy about a shop attendant who discovers he’s a sleeper government agent with sick martial arts skills.
Straight Outta Compton – 17th June
This Oscar-nominated drama charts the rise and fallouts of controversial legendary hip hop group N.W.A, who burst out of LA’s Compton gangland in the 1980s. Future Jack Bauer successor Corey Hawkins is on stellar form as Dr Dre.
Love & Mercy – 10th June
John Cusack and Paul Dano deliver astounding performances in this biopic of Brian Wilson, which captures the early years and later struggles of the legendary Beach Boys musician.
Paper Towns – 24th June
Hot on the heels of The Fault in Our Stars, John Green’s Paper Towns gets the big screen treatment, starring Cara Delevigne and Nat Wolff as a teenage girl who reunites with her childhood neighbour, only to disappear.
Irrational Man – 24th June
Joaquin Phoenix is the latest star to join forces with Woody Allen in this comedy-drama about a hard-drinking womanising philosophy professor, who attracts the attentions of student Emma Stone and fellow lecturer Parker Posey.
