NextUp decks its halls with two Becs of jolly this Christmas, as it announces its line-up for the festive season.
The subscription video-on-demand platform specialising exclusively in stand-up comedy specials champions the most exciting names in stand-up comedy, filming and showcasing their work worldwide. Comedians among its catalogue include Max & Ivan, Jordan Brookes, Tiff Stevenson, Jonathan Pie, Hal Cruttenden, Paul Sinha, Bill Hicks, Bec Hill, Lou Sanders, Eleanor Morton, Tommy Tiernan, Stuart Laws, Simon Munnery, Daliso Chaponda, Tiernan Douieb, Tom Ward and many more.
This December, Becky Brunning, Njambi McGrath, Sam Rhodes and Bec Hill will join them, bringing three strong female voices to the platform.
NextUp co-founder Sarah Henley says: “Our Winter season follows on from our Autumn season announcement earlier this year and we are all really excited to round off what has been a jam-packed 2019 with some awesome new shows joining the platform. It’s great to have three such strong female comedians in Bec, Njambi and Becky!”
NextUp has also released new gift vouchers online for people looking to gift a good laugh to friends or family.
Here’s the line-up of new NextUp releases in December 2019:
Becky Brunning – 4th December
Funny Women finalist and Broadchurch Actor Becky Brunning delights with Bloom. A tale of two halves, the show focuses on her relationship with her parents as a child, and her future as she considers starting a family with her wife.
Bec Hill – 11th December
Aussie comedian Bec Hill brings us an inventive mix of political commentary and character driven comedy as she poses as a time traveller giving advice to the audience on the shitshow of a future they are set to encounter. A creative use of props and excellently written gags make for a brilliant hour from the Fringe stalwart.
Njambi McGrath – 16th December
The delightful Njambi McGrath doesn’t shy away from the tricky questions in her 2019 show ‘Accidental Coconut’. A whistle-stop tour of African history, the show explores the juxtaposition of people mourning from the loss of former glory and those mourning how that former glory impacted on their lives.
Sam Rhodes – 20th December
Innovative musician comedian Sam Rhodes is well known on the London scene due to his East London open mic nights. Here with a show of his own, Rhodes was dubbed ‘one of the most innovative musical comedians out there’ by the British Comedy Guide Rhodes earlier this year.
