What’s coming soon to Netflix UK in October 2019?

October. The month of Halloween, the London Film Festival and Riverdale. Netflix is the perfect meeting point for all three, as it steps up its horror offerings, unleashes new gems fresh from Leicester Square’s red carpets and brings back favourites such as Big Mouth as well as Riverdale – and did we mention the small matter of a Breaking Bad movie…?
Here’s what’s coming soon to Netflix UK in October 2019:
Carmen San Diego: Season 2 – 1st October
The stakes are higher than ever for Carmen Sandiego as V.I.L.E. unleashes a host of dastardly new villains while A.C.M.E. closes in.
Ash vs. Evil Dead: Season 2 – 3rd October
“How does it feel to be back?” “Groovy.” STARZ’s hugely entertaining spin-off from the horror franchise continues the tale of Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) fighting the dark forces from beyond the grave. The 10-episode series roars back into action with Ash leaving his beloved Jacksonville and returning to his hometown of Elk Grove, Michigan. There, he confronts Ruby. The former enemies have to form an uneasy alliance as Elk Grove soon becomes the nucleus of evil.
Seis Manos: Season 1 – 3rd October
Set in Mexico in the 1970’s era, Seis Manos centers on three orphaned martial arts warriors who join forces with a DEA agent and a Mexican Federale to battle for justice after their beloved mentor is murdered on the streets of their tiny border town.
In the Tall Grass – 4th October
Based on the novella by Stephen King and Joe Hill, when siblings Becky and Cal hear the cries of a young boy lost within a field of tall grass, they venture in to rescue him, only to become ensnared themselves by a sinister force that quickly disorients and separates them. Cut off from the world and unable to escape the field’s tightening grip, they soon discover that the only thing worse than getting lost is being found. Written and directed by Vincenzo Natali.

Rhythm + Flow: Season 1 – 9th October
Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, and Tip “T.I.” Harris are searching for hip-hop’s best, undiscovered talent from Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City. Who will scrap their way to the top for a shot at the shine? Episodes 1 to 4 of Netflix’s new competition series land all at once, with the remaining episodes released in two batches of three episodes on Wednesdays.
Riverdale: Season 4 – 10th October
Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge and Jughead return for a fourth season, which is set to kick off with an emotional episode dedicated to the late Luke Perry, who played Archie’s dad, Fred. The cast have hinted that the series will be returning to its roots by focusing on its central quartet’s relationships, but that doesn’t answer the question left by Season 3’s cliffhanger…
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie – 11th October
Jesse Pinkman is back as Breaking Bad goes feature-length for a special follow-up, which catches up with Aaron Paul’s outlaw following the events of Breaking Bad’s finale. In the wake of his dramatic escape from captivity, Jesse must come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future…
The Forest of Love – 11th October
The latest from Sion Sono (Love Exposure, Tokyo Tribe) premieres on Netflix, as the director serves up a characteristically gruesome and gonzo take on actual historical events.
Fractured – 11th October
Ray Monroe (Sam Worthington), and his wife Joanne (Lily Rabe) rush their daughter to the emergency room of a nearby hospital after she is hurt in an accident. After being sent away for further testing, his wife and daughter vanish and all records of their visit disappear. Ray’s concern turns into a desperate race to find his family and discover the truth of what happened to them.
Insatiable: Season 2 – 11th October
Netflix’s controversial series, created by Lauren Gussis, stars Debby Ryan as Patty, a woman who has been bullied, ignored, and underestimated for years by those around her because of her weight. After finding herself suddenly thin, it sees Patty out for payback against anyone who has ever made her feel bad about herself – helped by Bob Armstrong (Dallas Roberts), a disgraced attorney whose true passion is coaching beauty pageant contestants.
The Laundromat – 18th October
A widow (Meryl Streep) investigates an insurance fraud, chasing leads to a pair of Panama City law partners (Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas) exploiting the world’s financial system. Steven Soderbergh directs.
Living with Yourself – 18th October
Miles Elliott, a man struggling in life, undergoes a novel spa treatment that promises to make him a better person, only to learn he’s been replaced – literally – by a better version of himself. Paul Rudd stars. With Paul Rudd.
Baby: Season 2 – 18th October
At what point is their secret life no longer a game? Netflix’s controversial Italian seres returns for a second run.
Wounds – 18th October
Armie Hammer, Dakota Johnson and Zazie Beetz star in the new horror from Under the Shadow director Babak Anvari. Fresh from the London Film Festival, it follows bartender Will, who discovers a cell phone after a violent brawl, then begins to receive ominous messages that cause his life to descend into a nightmare.
Daybreak – 24th October
The world is over. So grab your swords and flamethrowers and let’s get this show on the road. Netflix’s new dark comedy is high school, Mad Max-style.
Dolemite Is My Name – 25th October
Eddie Murphy portrays real-life legend Rudy Ray Moore, a comedy and rap pioneer who proved naysayers wrong when his hilarious, obscene, kung-fu fighting alter ego, Dolemite, became a 1970s Blaxploitation phenomenon.
Rattlesnake – 25th October
Carmen Ejogo stars in Netflix’s psychological thriller, which follows a single mother who accepts the help of a mysterious woman after her daughter is bitten by a rattlesnake, but finds herself forced to pay back her “debt” by taking the life of a total stranger.
Brotherhood (Irmandade): Season 1 – 25th October
Created by Pedro Morelli, Netflix’s new Brazilian series tells the story of Cristina (Naruna Costa), Edson (Seu Jorge), Darlene (Hermila Guedes), Ivan (Lee Taylor), Andrade (Danilo Grangheia), Carniça (Pedro Wagner) and Marcel (Wesley Guimarães), whose lives end up connected by crime.
The Kominsky Method: Season 2 – 26th October
Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin reprise their roles as the once-famous actor Sandy Kominsky and his longtime agent, Norman Newlander, two friends tackling life’s curveballs as they navigate their later years in Los Angeles, a city that values youth and beauty. Season 2 sees the friends continue their journey, as Sandy meets and bonds with his daughter’s new boyfriend (guest star Paul Reiser) who is uncomfortably close to Sandy’s age. Meanwhile, Norman reconnects with an old flame from his youth (guest star Jane Seymour) and after 50 years, they decide to start again. Nancy Travis and Sarah Baker co-star.
