It’s joined by spotlights on Christophe Honoré, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Bill Douglas and Joan Micklin Silver – one of the few women to sustain a career as a director in Hollywood in the 1970s

Tommy is taken to a home whilst Jamie goes to live with his grandmother whose cold contempt is only alleviated by her drinking habits.
The Plains – 12th April
David Easteal’s minimalist debut is an existential road film reflecting on the passage of time shot entirely from the backseat of a car. Every day at 5pm Andrew, a middle-aged man working in a community legal centre, drives home through Melbourne’s suburbs in peak-hour traffic occasionally offering a lift home to his younger colleague David. Over a year, their tentative small talk gives way to a friendship and open conversation within the confines of the vehicle.
Between the Lines – 13th April
An ensemble dramedy about an alternative newspaper in Boston starring Jeff Goldblum, John Heard and Lindsay Crouse.
Magic Mike – 14th April
Soderbergh’s surprising drama follows Mike Lane, who’s saving up money to start a furniture business and performs as “Magic Mike” in a strip club at night.
The Wild Pear Tree – 15th April
Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s poetic, novelistic piece of cinema depicts the arrogance of youth with funny, moving nuance.
On a Magical Night – 16th April
Maria, a middle-aged professor, leaves her husband after he discovers her infidelity with a younger man. Seeking refuge in a hotel across the street from their apartment, she reflects on her past relationships and sexual experiences through a series of magical and surreal encounters with her younger self and former lover.
My Way Home – 17th April
After a spell in foster care and a homeless shelter, Jamie is conscripted into the Royal Air Force and sent to Egypt. Befriended by Robert, Jamie finds redemption in his new friendship. Their undemanding companionship releases Jamie from self-pity and allows him to pursue his artistic ambition.
A Fish in the Bathtub – 20th April
This 1999 film stars legendary comedy duo Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, and a young Mark Ruffalo.
Close – 21st April
Thirteen-year-olds Léo (Eden Dambrine) and Rémi (Gustav De Waele) are inseparable; they spend every waking moment together, racing each other on their bikes, playing in the fields that surround their homes, and sleeping at each other’s houses. They are best friends, as close as brothers. However as they start a new school year, the pressures of burgeoning adolescence challenge their bond with unexpected and far-reaching consequences.
Traffic – 30th April
The head of the National Drug Control Policy discovers that his daughter is abusing cocaine. In Mexico, a policeman agrees to testify against a powerful general in league with a cartel, and in San Diego, a drug kingpin’s trophy wife must learn her husband’s ruthless business after he is arrested.
