March means one thing for Disney+ subscriptions: the return of The Mandalorian. Except that’s not the only big hitter making a comeback, with Abbott Elementary dropping its second season and Grey’s Anatomy continuing its 19th run.
Here’s what’s coming soon to Disney+ UK in March 2023:
The Mandalorian: Season 3 – 1st March
The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars galaxy continue. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.
Abbott Elementary: Season 2 – 1st March
This workplace comedy follows a group of dedicated, passionate teachers — and a slightly tone-deaf principal — as they navigate the Philadelphia public school system. Despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life, and though these incredible public servants may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do — even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude towards educating children. All episodes arrive together.
Empire of Light – 1st March
From Sam Mendes, Empire of Light is a drama about the power of human connection during turbulent times. Set in and around a faded old cinema in an English coastal town in the early 1980s, it follows Hilary (Olivia Colman), a cinema manager struggling with her mental health, and Stephen (Micheal Ward), a new employee who longs to escape this provincial town in which he faces daily adversity. Both Hilary and Stephen find a sense of belonging through their unlikely and tender relationship and come to experience the healing power of music, cinema, and community.
Black Narcissus: Season 1 – 1st March
Starring Gemma Arterton as Sister Clodagh and Alessandro Nivola as Mr Dean, this vibrant tale of desire and doubt is an atmospheric echo of Powell and Pressburger’s iconic adaptation. All episodes arrive at once.
Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur – 1st March
After 13-year-old supergenius Lunella accidentally brings 10-ton Tyrannosaurus rex Devil Dinosaur into present-day New York City via a time vortex, they work together to protect the city’s Lower East Side from danger.
Finding Michael – Date TBC
In 1999, Michael Matthews became the youngest Briton to climb Mount Everest. But three hours after he summited, he disappeared and was never found. Aged just 10 when Michael went missing, his brother, entrepreneur and broadcaster Spencer Matthews, always struggled to accept his death. Over 20 years later, Spencer receives a photo of a body on the mountain that could be Michael. He heads to Nepal and recruits Nims Purja, the world ’14 peaks’ record holder, to lead a team and search Everest’s ‘Death Zone’ to try to find Michael. Note: This has been postponed from its 3rd March release to an unconfirmed date.

Boston Strangler – 17th March
This true-crime thriller follows the trailblazing reporters who broke the story of the notorious 1960s Boston Strangler murders. The film follows Loretta McLaughlin, a reporter for the Record American newspaper, who became the first journalist to connect the Boston Strangler murders. As the mysterious killer claims more and more victims, Loretta attempts to continue her investigation alongside colleague and confidante Jean Cole, yet the duo finds themselves stymied by the rampant sexism of the era. Nevertheless, McLaughlin and Cole bravely pursue the story at great personal risk, putting their own lives on the line in their quest to uncover the truth.
Arrested Development: Season 1 to 3 – 22nd March
Departing Netflix after the streaming service revived it, the Fox sitcom heads home, minus Netflix’s original – and underwhelming – fourth and fifth seasons.
Up Here: Season 1 – 24th March
Ditch the noise and listen to your heart. From the screenwriter of Tick, Tick… Boom!, director of Hamilton, and the songwriters of The Book of Mormon comes a musical romantic comedy set in New York City in the waning days of 1999, following the extraordinary story of one ordinary couple, as they fall in love – and discover that the single greatest obstacle to finding happiness together might just be themselves. All episodes arrive at once.
Kindred: Season 1 – 29th March
Adapted from the novel by Octavia E Butler, the series centres on Dana James, a young Black woman and aspiring writer who has uprooted her life of familial obligation and relocated to Los Angeles, ready to claim a future that, for once, feels all her own. But, before she can settle into her new home, she finds herself being violently pulled back and forth in time. She emerges at a 19th-century plantation, a place remarkably and intimately linked with Dana and her family. An interracial romance threads through Dana’s past and present, and the clock is ticking as she struggles to confront secrets she never knew ran through her blood. All episodes arrive at once.
