Rev Run is coming to Netflix this summer, with the premiere of All About the Washingtons in August.
The autobiographical scripted family sitcom follows Joey Washington (Rev Run aka Joseph Simmons) and his wife Justine Washington (Justine Simmons), playing fictionalised versions of themselves raising a family of kids. After Joey decides to retire from a long career as legendary hip-hop royalty, his wife, Justine, takes advantage of the opportunity to pursue a career of her own now that Joey is available to focus on raising the kids and keeping the house in order.
We join them as the worldwide rapper superstar exits the hip hop game and starts to hold down the fort, while Mama Justine fulfills her lifelong dream of becoming an entrepreneur. Their kids are portrayed by rising stars Kiana Ledé, Nathan Anderson, Leah Rose Randall and Maceo Smedley, with additional characters including coding teacher Veronica (Kiana Ledé), music producer Wesley (Nathan Anderson), child genius Skyler (Leah Rose Randall), and young Daevon (Maceo Smedley).
The series is created by Jeremy Bronson, with Netflix picking up the pilot after it originally began at ABC. Andrew Reich is showrunner and executive produces with Bronson, alongside Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank from Amblin Television, Rev Run Simmons and Justine Simmons, and Michael Lehman of Simmons Lehman Productions.
All episodes hit Netflix on Friday 10th August. Here’s a trailer:
