It’s time to check in to The White Lotus again this month, as Sky invites us back to the scathing world of white privilege. Mussolini: Son of the Century (Sky Atlantic) – 4th February
Directed by BAFTA-winning Joe Wright (Darkest Hour, Atonement, Cyrano), Mussolini: Son of the Century, based on the Premio Strega-winning and international bestselling book by Antonio Scurati, chronicles the birth of fascism in Italy and the Duce Benito Mussolini’s rise to power. Award-winning actor Luca Marinelli, amongst the most respected actors in Italy, will lead the cast as Benito Mussolini. Like the eponymous novel, the series will tell the history of a country that surrendered to dictatorship, and the story of a man who was able to rise from his ashes time and again.
Luther: Never Too Much (Sky Documentaries) – 14th February
Luther Vandross: Never Too Much, the documentary film, chronicles the story of a vocal virtuoso. Using a wealth of rarely seen archives, Luther tells his own story with assistance from his closest friends and musical collaborators including Mariah Carey, Dionne Warwick, Valerie Simpson and Roberta Flack. The film relives the many stunning moments of Luther’s musical career, while exploring his unrequited love life, health struggles, and a lifelong battle to earn the respect his music deserved.
The White Lotus: Season 3 (Sky Atlantic) – 17th February
Yindī txnrạb! Welcome to The White Lotus, Thailand. The anthology series returns, this time set at an exclusive Thai resort. As always, the biting social satire follows the exploits of various guests and employees over the span of a week, portrayed by an all-star cast. This season’s guest list includes Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon and Leslie Bibb as three long-time friends on a girls’ trip.
Small Town, Big Story: Season 1 – 27th February
The six-part series is set in the fictional town of Drumbán, a rural town of rattled locals on the border of Ireland and another world, and what happens when a Hollywood TV production rolls into town, throwing a spotlight on a secret that’s been kept hidden since the eve of the Millennium. Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) stars as Wendy Patterson, a local girl done good in Los Angeles as a hot-shot television producer, who returns to her hometown with an epic new production called ‘I am Celt’.
David Frost Vs – Date TBC
David Frost Vs charts almost half a century of dizzying social, political, and cultural change through the eyes of the one man who had a front-row seat to it all: Sir David Frost. Fox & Hare Save the Forest – 9th February
Strange things are happening in the forest! In the morning after Fox and Hare’s party with their friends, Owl has disappeared, mischievous Rats are terrorising the neighbourhood, and an overflowing lake is threatening homes. Could this be the work of a megalomaniac beaver, desperate to be admired by others? Fox and Hare are determined to find out, rescue Owl and save their beloved forest! It will put their friendship to the test.
The Garfield Movie – 14th February
Garfield (voiced by Chris Pratt), the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.
The Line – 15th February
The Line is a campus thriller that plunges into the dangerous world of college fraternities and blind adherence to tradition. Alex Wolff stars as Tom, a scholarship student desperate to break free from his working-class background who is charmed by the prestigious KNA fraternity’s promises of high social status and alumni connections that open doors.
A Place Called Silence – 16th February
A middle-school girl falls to her death after being bullied, leading to a series of mysterious deaths among the bullies, and violence towards her best friend. As everyone turns a blind eye, old secrets of concealment and corruption are brought to the surface. From the director of the Chinese box office hit, Sheep Without a Shepherd (2019), this gruesome slasher doesn’t hold back on the gore.
Rob Peace – 20th February
Directed, adapted by, and starring Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Rob Peace follows the true story of a brilliant young man (Jay Will) torn between his father’s shadowed past and his own promising future. Raised by his devoted mother (Academy Award® nominee Mary J. Blige, Mudbound), Rob risks everything he has worked for to free his imprisoned father (Ejiofor). The Watched – 21st February
The Watched follows Mina (Dakota Fanning), a 28-year old artist who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers that are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.
Thelma – 22nd February
After 93-year-old Thelma is conned by a phone scammer, she embarks on a risky journey across LA with only one thing on her mind – revenge. Comedy.
Fight or Flight – 28th February
A mercenary takes on the task of eliminating a high value target on a plane flight, but when an onslaught of rival assassins descend upon them both, he realises they have to team up in order to survive. Josh Hartnett stars in this kinetic action-thriller.
