VOD News | On 06, Sep 2025
“I’m putting Slough Horse in lockdown…” That’s the sound of Slow Horses returning to Apple TV+ this September – and a new trailer gives us a first look at the show’s fifth season.
The Apple TV+ series is a darkly humorous espionage drama that follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 known unaffectionately as Slough House.
The series is produced for Apple TV+ by See-Saw Films and adapted for television by Will Smith. The six-part fifth season is based on London Rules, the next novel in Mick Herron’s series of Slough House novels.
Season 5 picks up as everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend. When a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, the London Rules — cover your back — always apply.
Season 5 will premiere on Wednesday 24th September, with episodes arriving weekly until the finale on 29th October.
Apple TV+ renews Slow Horses for Season 5
2nd January 2024
Apple has wasted no time in galloping to renew Slow Horses for a fifth season.
The darkly comic spy drama follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 known unaffectionately as Slough House. Gary Oldman stars as Lamb, the brilliant but cantankerous leader of the spies, who end up in Slough House due to their career-ending mistakes as they frequently find themselves blundering around the smoke and mirrors of the espionage world.
Based on the novels by Mick Herron, the show co-stars Kristin Scott Thomas, BAFTA Scotland Award winner Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Samuel West, Sophie Okonedo, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Kadiff Kirwan and Jonathan Pryce.
“This enjoyably low-key thriller is an entertaining walk on the shabby side of spying,” we wrote in our review of the series.
Now, hot on the heels of the Season 3 finale over the Christmas holiday period, Apple has ordered a fifth season, based on the next novel in the book series. Season 5 will pick up as everyone is suspicious when resident tech nerd Roddy Ho has a glamorous new girlfriend. When a series of increasingly bizarre events occur across the city, it falls to the Slow Horses to work out how everything is connected. After all, Lamb knows that in the world of espionage, London Rules should always apply.
The series is produced by See-Saw Films and adapted for television by Will Smith. Will Smith, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Julian Stevens and Graham Yost serve as executive producers on the series.
