What’s coming soon to Sky and NOW in November 2022?

Sky is looking to score some World Cup success this November, with a range of programming around the football tournament, from documentaries and comedies to even opera. Other players on the TV pitch include the return of Upright and The Good Doctor and debut of Swedish mystery thriller Souls. The World Cup 2022 kicks off this November in Qatar and Jack Whitehall has challenged best mate Jamie Redknapp to a World Cup challenge of his own. Instead of collecting stickers as so many do, he has to build his own World Cup team by collecting real-life meetings with actual World Cup stars. Panicking about failing and desperate not to lose to Jack, Jamie drags his father Harry into the caper hoping that his contacts can open some doors. Gods of the Game (Sky Arts, 8pm) – 13th November
Gods of the Game: A Football Opera tells the story of two childhood friends, now footballing icons, who join forces to front their nation’s bid to host a World Cup tournament. As their campaign takes shape, they begin to encounter a nefarious world of bribery and corruption, overseen by the game’s charismatic and all-powerful president. Enlisting support from the gods of the game, they set out to restore football to its rightful owners – the players and the fans. Playing in front of a live audience at Surrey’s Grange Park Opera, with results played on stage as part of the performance.
Hurst: The First and Only (Sky Documentaries, 7pm) – 13th November

Upright: Season 2 (Sky Comedy, 9pm) – 22nd November
Comedian and musician Tim Minchin reunites with House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock for a second season of the odd-couple comedy. In the years since Lucky and Meg had their grand adventure, Lucky has returned to Sydney. Now a successful musician, his world should be starting to come together. But he’s an emotional mess and a problem drinker, and his erratic behaviour is making his TV star girlfriend’s life much more complicated. Just as things couldn’t get any more chaotic, there’s a knock at the door; it’s Meg. And she needs Lucky’s help.

Avenue 5: Season 2 (Sky Comedy) – Date TBC
Avenue 5 takes us to a not-so-distant future where space tourism is a booming business. Monday – 6th November
Argyris Papadimitropoulos’ follow-up to the festival sensation Suntan follows Mickey (Sebastian Stan) and Chloe (Denise Gough), two Americans in their mid-30s living in Athens, who meet in the heat of summer one whirlwind weekend. The chemistry between them is undeniable. When Chloe’s time in Greece is drawing to a close, she decides to give up her high-flying job back home and explore whether one weekend’s passion can blossom into something more.
Ambulance – 11th November
Over one day across the streets of L.A., three lives will change forever. In this breakneck thriller from director- producer Michael Bay, decorated veteran Will Sharp (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), desperate for money to cover his wife’s medical bills, asks for help from the one person he knows he shouldn’t – his adoptive brother Danny (Jake Gyllenhaal). Aisha – 17th November
Aisha charts the experiences of a young Nigerian woman as she seeks international protection in Ireland. Caught in limbo for years in Ireland’s immigration system, Aisha Osagie (BAFTA Rising Star Award winner Letitia Wright) develops a friendship with former prisoner Conor Healy (Josh O’Connor) who she meets at one of the accommodation centres. Aisha and Conor’s growing friendship soon looks to be short lived as Aisha’s future in Ireland comes under threat.
Phantom of the Open – 18th November
The heartwarming true story of Maurice Flitcroft (Mark Rylance), a dreamer and unrelenting optimist. This humble crane operator from Barrow-in-Furness managed to gain entry to The British Open Golf Championship qualifying in 1976, despite never playing a round of golf before. He shot the worst round in Open history and drew the ire of the golfing elite, but became a folk hero in the process and, more importantly, showed his family the importance of pursuing your dreams.
The Reef: Stalked – 19th November
In an effort to escape the trauma of their sister’s murder, Nic and Annie along with two close friends set off for a dream vacation. A Pacific Island adventure lies ahead with drinks, sun and surf on the menu. Within hours of hitting the surf, the women are attacked far from land by a great white shark. Bleeding and vulnerable, it’s a race against time as they soon realise they’re being stalked by the beast as they venture closer and closer to safety. They are more than prey to the shark, they’re entertainment.
The Northman – 25th November
Prince Amleth is on the verge of becoming a man when his father is brutally murdered by his uncle, who kidnaps the boy’s mother. Two decades later, Amleth (Alexander Skarsgård) is now a Viking who raids Slavic villages. He soon meets a seeress who reminds him of his vow – save his mother, kill his uncle, avenge his father.
The Outfit – 26th November
Mark Rylance stars in this crime drama about a Savile Row tailor who is drawn into a deadly war between rival gangs in 50s Chicago and faces an excruciating fight to survive.
A Christmas Story Christmas – 27th November
This follow-up to the US holiday favourite, A Christmas Story finds Ralphie all grown up and having to deal with Christmas and all that comes with it… as a dad. Peter Billingsley returns to the role.
