Lily Tomlin, Neil Patrick Harris and Tiffany Haddish are all teaming for a Netflix comedy special this week, and a new trailer gives us a look at the impressive line-up in action – and a better idea of what the heck the special’s about in the first place.
The event sees Hollywood’s comedy royalty pay tribute to Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In, an American show that paved the way for series such as Saturday Night Live. For US comedy fans, that means a chance to see big names paying homage to the classic show and its Director/Producer George Schlatter, including modern takes on timeless moments, such as Tomlin’s revival of her Edith Ann and Ernestine characters.
For UK viewers, that still doesn’t mean very much, but it is an excuse to bask in a star-studded ensemble that includes everyone from Snoop Dogg, Chelsea Handler and Taye Diggs to Michael Douglas, Jay Leno, Rita Moreno and Rita Wilson. Also, Ruth Buzzi, Billy Crystal, Kenya Barris, JoAnne Worley, Maria Bamford, Margaret Cho, Ron Funches, Nikki Glaser, Lisa Ann Walter, Mary McCormack, Bobby Moynihan, Cheri Oteri, Rob Riggle, Jeff Ross, J.B. Smoove, Tony Hale, Jon Lovitz, Natasha Leggero, Michael Rapaport and Jameela Jamil. You can see all of the above in one jam-packed show on Netflix from Tuesday 14th May. Here’s the trailer:
Still Laugh-In: The Stars Celebrate is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £8.99 monthly subscription.
