Jensen Ackles will return to The Boys universe for new prequel series Vought Rising.

The Boys is based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, who also serve as executive producers, and developed by executive producer and showrunner Eric Kripke. The darkly comic series asks what happens when superheroes abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. At its heart is The Seven, a corrupt team of immoral famous heroes, and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that protects them.

Since the show’s debut, it has become one of Amazon’s biggest hits, with a fifth season already greenlit, an adult animated anthology, Diabolical, released in 2022, and a second season of spin-off series Gen V on the way. Now the universe is expanding with a spin-off that will continue to follow Ackles’ Soldier Boy, the franchise’s answer to Captain America.

Vought Rising will star Aya Cash as well as Ackles, who will also serve as producers. Paul Grellong will serve as showrunner and executive producer.

We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V,” said executive producer Eric Kripke and series showrunner and executive producer Paul Grellong.
