“I’m shocked you haven’t said it already.” That’s the sound of Heartstopper returning to Netflix this October and a new teaser gives us a first look at Season 3.
The coming-of-age comedy, based on the webcomic by Alice Oseman, follows Charlie and Nick, who meet at school and become friends before gradually developing a romantic relationship. Season 2 saw Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor) back in the blue and yellow halls of Truham Grammar School for Boys. Based on Volume 3 of the graphic novels, with lots of additional new material, the sophomore chapter also followed Tara (Corinna Brown) and Darcy (Kizzy Edgell) as they face unforeseen challenges and Tao (William Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney) as they worked out if they could ever be more than friends.
Season 3 will see Nick and Charlie’s relationship deepen as they face their biggest emotional challenges yet.
“Season 2 ended with Nick beginning to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental health issues, and it’s this that will drive the story through Season 3,” said Oseman in a statement. “While Heartstopper will always celebrate the joyful and point towards hope, I’m really excited that we are allowing the tone of the show to mature alongside our beloved characters growing up.”
Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter, Black Mirror) will join the cast for Season 3 as Nick’s aunt, Diane, along with Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan, Fair Play) as Geoff, Charlie’s therapist, and Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton) as Jack Maddox, Charlie’s celebrity crush.
Season 3 will premiere on 3rd October. here’s the new video, including an exclusive snippet of Bird of a Feather from Billie Eilish’s upcoming album, Hit Me Hard and Soft.
