The Morning Show will officially return this September for Season 4 on Apple TV+.

Starring and executive produced by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, Apple’s flagship drama explores the world of morning news and the ego, ambition and the misguided search for power behind the people who help America wake up in the morning. Season 1 followed the free fall of an early morning newscast in the wake of a harassment scandal involving veteran host Mitch (Steve Carell), leading co-host Alex (Aniston) and new presenter Bradley (Witherspoon) to navigate their way through the mess.

Season 4 opens in spring 2024, almost two years after the events of season three. With the UBA-NBN merger complete, the newsroom must grapple with newfound responsibility, hidden motives and the elusive nature of truth in a polarised America. In a world rife with deepfakes, conspiracy theories and corporate cover-ups — who can you trust? And how can you know what’s actually real?

Along with Aniston and Witherspoon, the star-studded season four ensemble cast includes new additions Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Aaron Pierre, William Jackson Harper, Boyd Holbrook, while returning cast members include Billy Crudup, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie, Nestor Carbonell, Mark Duplass, Greta Lee and Season 3 addition Jon Hamm.

Season 4’s showrunner and executive producer is Charlotte Stoudt, with Mimi Leder directing and executive producing. The 10-episode fourth season will premiere on Wednesday 17th September, with episodes arriving weekly until the finale on 19th November.

The Morning Show has been renewed for a fourth season.

Starring and executive produced by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, the drama explores the world of morning news and the ego, ambition and the misguided search for power behind the people who help America wake up in the morning. Season 1 followed the free fall of an early morning newscast in the wake of a harassment scandal involving veteran host Mitch (Steve Carell), leading co-host Alex (Aniston) and new presenter Bradley (Witherspoon) to navigate their way through the mess.

Season 2 – which aired at the end of 2021 and was rewritten to incorporate the Covid-19 pandemic – picked up as the Morning Show team emerge from the wreckage of Alex (Aniston) and Bradley’s (Witherspoon) actions to a new UBA and a world in flux, where identity is everything and the chasm between who we present as and who we really are comes into play. Along with Aniston and Witherspoon, the star-studded returning cast included Steve Carell, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Bel Powley, Desean Terry, Janina Gavankar, Tom Irwin and Marcia Gay Harden.

Joining the cast for Season 2 were Greta Lee as Stella Bak, a tech world wunderkind who joined the UBA executive team, Ruairi O’Connor as Ty Fitzgerald, a smart and charismatic YouTube star, Hasan Minhaj as Eric Nomani, a new member of the Morning Show team, Holland Taylor as Cybil Richards, UBA’s savvy board chairwoman, Tara Karsian as news producer Gayle Berman, Valeria Golino as documentarian Paola Lambruschini, Julianna Margulies as news anchor Laura Peterson, and Will Arnett as Alex’s agent, Doug Klassen.

A third season was greenlit shortly after Season 2’s finale, with Charlotte Stoudt (Fosse/Verdon, Homeland, House of Cards) stepped up to showrunner for Season 3, while Kerry Ehrin, who developed The Morning Show and served as showrunner on the first and second seasons, would stay on baord as consultant. Now, before Season 3 premieres this autumn, Apple TV+ has already given the go-ahead for Season 4.

Negotiations are still underway, reports Deadline, but the renewal comes as Aniston and Witherspoon’s contracts expire at the end of Season 3. While scheduling is reportedly being worked out, there is also said to be a possible option for a fifth season.

Joining Season 3’s cast will be Stephen Fry, Tig Notaro and Nicole Beharie, as well as Jon Hamm as media mogul Paul Marks.
